‘Teen Mom’ Maci Bookout Hit With a Federal Tax Lien Now That She Owes the IRS $150k

One Teen Mom star might have found herself in some major financial trouble. According to a new report, Maci Bookout has recently been hit with two federal tax liens now that she owes more than $150k to the IRS – and that's not even taking into account what she owes in state taxes! This isn't the first time that Maci has run into trouble with the IRS, but hopefully, it will be the last. Tax season is usually stressful for everyone, but this is next level.

Two tax liens have been filed for the fiscal year.

According to a report from In Touch Weekly, both liens were filed on February 2, 2024. One of them is for $49,383.00, while the other has a total of a whopping $105,346.00.

Only Maci is listed on the $49k lien, but both she and husband Taylor McKinney are down as debtors for the larger amount.

These are her second and third liens in less than a year.

Last year, Maci found herself in $14,227 of debt owed in taxes to the state of California, which is a bit puzzling because she lives in Tennessee (and has since we first met her on 16 & Pregnant).

This sounds so stressful!

Not only did Maci come up $12,569 short in California state taxes in 2017, but she also owed the IRS $78,308 for the same year as well. Since then, Maci has been able to pay off those debts, so hopefully, the next round will be easy for her to take care of as well.

Her tax situation is unusual.

And it's not just due to her large reality TV income (though that definitely doesn't help!). As The Ashley's Reality Roundup pointed out, because her main gig is starring on MTV's Teen Mom franchise, she's likely paid as an independent contractor. That means she's responsible for paying all of her taxes rather than her employer taking taxes out of her paycheck like they do in other jobs.

Hopefully Maci is able to get this squared away quickly.

There's no doubt that this must be a stressful situation for her — isn't it always when the IRS comes knocking? Financial issues are never fun, so hopefully she and Taylor are able to take care of it ASAP and move on.
