Victoria Beckham‘s feud with her son Brooklyn Beckham is very public, and during this difficult time, it doesn’t sound like she’s interested in hearing anyone’s commentary about it. So when her longtime friend (and former Spice Girls bandmate) Melanie C made a comment about children being raised in the spotlight, Victoria reportedly took it personally… and now, a source says that she’s planning to hold a grudge over the situation for a long time.
Mel C. opened up about keeping her daughter’s life as private as possible.
While speaking to The Times, Melanie explained why she’s made sure that her 16 year old daughter, Scarlet, has never been in the public eye, no matter how famous her mom might be.
“I made that conscious decision when she was a baby,” Mel said. “Obviously I have friends who handle it very differently, each to their own, no judgment at all. But for me, probably because of my experiences with fame, I didn’t feel comfortable making that decision for her.”
It was that part about friends who have made different choices that seems to have gotten to Victoria, because she and husband David Beckham have raised their kids with a fair bit of exposure to public life.
Victoria reportedly took it as a “public judgment” of her parenting.
National Enquirer columnist Rob Schuter revealed in his Substack newsletter that a source close to Victoria has said that she’s not taking Mel’s comment very well, even if she wasn’t mentioned by name.
“What Mel said may be true, but it absolutely did not need to be said right now,” the insider said, with another source adding, “Victoria took it as judgment — public judgment — during one of the most painful moments of her life. She is livid.”
However, another insider claims that Mel didn’t have any “malicious” intentions with her comment, but it’s too late. At this point, Victoria feels that her friend “chose honesty over loyalty,” and there’s no going back.
This could dash any hope of a Spice Girls reunion tour in the future.
Since one source said that Victoria has always been one to hold a grudge and feels that this moment has “embarrassed her professionally,” there’s a chance she may not buy in if talks about a Spice Girls reunion tour start happening anytime soon.
“This just made everything worse,” the source said. “Any hope of a reunion tour is basically frozen.”
These two need to kiss and make up. What the world needs right now is definitely a Spice Girls reunion!
