On this, the last day of the 12 Days of Orgasm, I really wanted to try something completely different.
I've never been much for extensive PDA but there can be something sexy about getting turned on in public. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I want to have sex in public like the couple on the subway car in Vienna.
I’m not that far out there — only a little bit out there.
But I found the perfect sex toy to help me in my experimental quest: Club Vibe ($49).
Club Vibe is a whole vibrating underwear kit. It comes with a sexy, stretchy black lace thong, a bullet vibrator and controller, and an electronics splitter.
The controller has three modes of operation: manual with seven different intensity and vibration patterns; music, which causes the bullet to vibrate along with your choice of music via the splitter hooked up to your iPod, iPhone, or other MP3 player or smartphone; and ambient where the bullet vibrates in response to the sounds around you like slamming doors, people's voices, and music.
I decided to wear my new thong on a date night with my husband. We were going to one of our favorite local restaurants; a loud, bustling, happening kind of place. So I figured it would be perfect for testing out the Club Vibe in the ambient mode to see how sensitive the vibe was to the noise.
I assembled the vibe, putting the bullet in a little pocket in the crotch of the underwear. Put the underwear on. Very comfortable. And then put my skinny jeans on because I figured they were tight and would help hold the bullet in place better.
Then I just had to figure out where to put the controller because that’s also where the sound travels through. I solved that by wearing a top that didn’t tuck into my pants and clipped the controller to my pants. It could pass for a beeper.
I knew the night was going to be an adventure when I came downstairs and my husband had some old Linkin Park playing and my underwear started moving. Same with the ride to dinner. We rocked out to back to back pop songs: Taio Cruz singing "Dynamite" and Usher singing "DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love."
And the restaurant turned out to be the perfect guinea pig for the Club Vibe. It was loud and I was vibrating. And there was something fun and flirty about having a party going on that no one else knew about. Other than my husband. And sharing our sexy secret was even more of a turn-on.
After a few glasses of wine, some good food, and loud conversation, I was ready to rip my husband's clothes off. But I didn't. Instead we skipped dessert and high-tailed it to the privacy of our own home.
And now I'm tired. But in a good way.
It’s been a fun 12 Days of Orgasm. I’ve learned a lot about sex toys: about the different types, their functions, and the materials they're made with. I tried 12 totally new toys and found out what works for me, both with and without my husband.
There are so many options out there and you have to experiment to see what works for you. Different sex toys are good for different occasions, some to use together and some to use alone. And then of course the times when you don't use any.
I know there are some women out there who just don't get the whole sex toy thing. But to them, I would say, "Try one." Diversity is the key to a spicy, and fulfilling, sex life.
