Another Halloween is upon us, which means another year of fun costumes for everyone — kids, celebrities, and parents, alike. Even the family pet can dress up for the holiday, which is what makes this one so fun. Dressing up is a chance to get creative and have a scare, or a laugh, depending on what the costume is.
Some people spend weeks, even months, deciding what their, or their family's, costume should be, and last year's Halloween costumes will be hard to top. So we made the choice a little easier making a list of some of this year's best. We think these will be popular in 2022, based on pop culture moments, TV shows or films that we all loved, or loved to hate on, this past year.
See what costume ideas we have brewing, and Happy almost Halloween!
A 'House of the Dragon' Character

House of the Dragon is one of the hottest, if not the hottest, TV shows to come out this fall, namely because it's a prequel to the hit show Game of Thrones. It's exciting for Halloween lovers because it gives them another excuse to continue to dress up as one of the characters from the Seven Kingdoms for this year's holiday.
Marilyn Monroe

Speaking of popular viewing, the film Blonde, a biopic on the late actress Marilyn Monroe, is out on Netflix. Though the reviews have been split, with the movie being controversial to many, the iconic actress is definitely top of mind for many. Marilyn Monroe fans who did enjoy the movie or just want to continue paying homage to her can dress up as the bombshell in her iconic dress and blond hair.
On of the Sanderson Sisters From 'Hocus Pocus 2'

The Sanderson sisters are three of the most recognizable pop culture witches thanks to the movie Hocus Pocus from millennial parents' childhoods. And they're back on the pop culture scene in time for Halloween with the recent release of Hocus Pocus 2.
One of the Rockford Peaches From 'A League of Their Own'

Speaking of reboots and sequels of major classics, the movie A League of Their Own was reimagined into a series that stars Abbi Jacobson. The series follows the Rockford Peaches all-women baseball team with a bunch of loveable characters to dress up as, especially with their iconic uniform.
Jennifer Lopez Marrying Ben Affleck in Vegas

Bennifer, aka Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, broke the internet this summer when the two decided to get married at a chapel in Las Vegas ahead of their big wedding on Ben's estate in Georgia. Jen wore a simple white A-line wedding dress from one of her old movie wardrobes and so we found a similar one here, likely much less expensive, to imitate her look for Halloween.
An 'Abbot Elementary' Teacher

Abbott Elementary is the breakout TV hit of the year and the show and actors have the Emmy Awards to prove it. It follows a group of teachers from a struggling Philadelphia school and their wild antics, filmed The Office-style. Being one of those teachers makes for a great Halloween costume idea and we even found one of the dresses Quinta Brunson's character wears on the show.
Barbie

C'mon Barbie let's go … to a Halloween party. The photos released of Margot Robbie as Barbie in the upcoming 2023 film of the same name, alongside Ryan Gosling as Ken, has inspired a vibe and style that's being called "Barbiecore." Lean into it by dressing up as workout Barbie this spooky season.
Wednesday Addams

One of the members of the Addams family is getting their time to shine, and that would be Wednesday. The Addams Family have always been a Halloween hit during spooky season and even more fun to dress up as for it, and now they're back in the conversation, and running for great Halloween costume idea, thanks to the trailer for Wednesday, a spinoff show about the family's moody daughter.
Mirabel From 'Encanto'

We can't talk about Bruno (sorry if you just got that song from Encanto out of your head!) but we can talk about dressing up as Mirabel for Halloween. Mirabel was the lead star and only member of the familia who didn't have a special gift just yet. But her outfit from the Disney movie will make a special costume to wear.
A 'Selling the OC' Realtor

Netflix reality TV series Selling Sunset took the world by storm a few years ago and this year, the streaming service released the spinoff show Selling the O.C. and the drama is just as hot. What's hotter, though, are the outfits the show's stars wear during their showings and open houses. They also make it easy to dress up as them for Halloween.
A NASA Telescope Image

In July, NASA released stunning and mind-blowing photos of the literal universe taken by its James Webb Space Telescope. Those photos were the most detailed of the stars, galaxies, and the Milky Way that have never been seen before. We think a costume can't get any cooler than that, so when we saw this dress we knew it would be perfect for someone wanting to dress up as one of these photos.
A 'Bombshell' From 'Love Island'

Speaking of reality shows, if ones about love are more your speed, then you may be a Love Island fan, which has series based in both the UK and the US. Take the opportunity this Halloween to dress up as one of the Islanders in the villa by wearing a dress or outfit fit for the fire pit, like this one similar to Tasha Ghouri's style on season eight.
A Member of the 'Hellfire Club' From 'Stranger Things'

The show Stranger Things came out with a new season and there are few people who haven't caught up and became obsessed with the spooky, '80s era show. It's easy to dress up as some of the characters because of time period, but one of the iconic shirts comes from the Hellfire Club made famous by the bad-boy-turned-hero Eddie Munson.
Blake Lively's Pregnancy Post

Blake Lively gave the internet the best surprise in early September when she announced on Instagram that she was pregnant with her and Ryan Reynolds' fourth child. In the post, she sported her bump wearing a cute red one-pice bathing suit, a look we found easy to replicate if someone wanted to dress up as the soon-to-be mama of four this Halloween.
A 'Bridgerton' Character

Bridgerton is becoming a cult classic and the characters are storyline are just a part of that. The costumes they wear, as the Netflix show is set in England's Regency period, definitely help make it that much more fun to watch. Now you have a reason to wear a corset-style dress of your own.
Lizzo & the Flute

Lizzo's wild dreams came true, and then so did ours, when she got to play a 200-year-old flute belonging to Founding Father James Madison on stage during one of her concerts. It was such an iconic moment because she posted it twice to her Instagram feed. Recreate the moment by grabbing a kid's flute, or real one, and wear a goldish sparkly dress like she did.
Kim Kardashian in Marilyn's Dress

Kim Kardashian wore a piece of fashion history to the Met Gala this year when she put on the dress Marilyn Monroe wore when she sang "Happy Birthday" to President John. F. Kennedy. No one can argue it didn't spark conversation at least. Recreate that moment with a dress similar to Marilyn's, just add a white fur shawl to it.
A Bluey Character

Last but not least, we'd be remiss if we didn't include on this list costume inspiration for one of parents' (and kids) favorite cartoon characters from the show Bluey. The plus side to this idea is that the whole family can take part in it and everyone will be happy with the decision. T-shirts like the ones pictured here are all you need.
