What's the opposite of frumpy? That's what the designers of Target's plus-size clothing line AVA & VIV must have asked themselves. The AVA & VIV clothes that you loved last spring are back; this time they're the perfect pieces to take you from summer into fall.
Like last season, the Target team turned to three super-stylish plus-size bloggers for input on the designs and fit: stylist Nicolette Mason, who writes the "Big Girl in a Skinny World" column for Marie Claire
The trio — here modeling the looks — blithely shrug off some of the supposed rules of what you can and can't wear when you're plus-size. Exhibit A: lots of splashy prints, bold plaid shirts, pastels, and coordinated sets. There are also must-have basics for every girl (not just the skinny ones): the perfect wrap dress, a swingy fit-and-flare frock, a simple black pencil skirt, cute denim and an edgy motorcycle jacket. Prices range from $10 to $79.99, sizes go from 14 to 26, and the collection starts dropping into stores August 15. I, for one, will be there waiting with open arms to greet it.
