The 22 Best And Most Bizarre Beauty Looks From The 2019 Met Gala

Though fashion is front of mind when thinking about the Met Gala, the way celebs pair their dynamic outfits with the right hair and makeup is equally as important. So on Monday, while we were gawking at the larger-than-life dresses and surreal costumes, we were also paying close attention to how they pulled it all together up top.

Check out 18 of our favorite beauty looks from the night of extravaganza. It was bright, it was big, and it was pretty dang extravagant.

Lady Gaga

Gaga put our false lashes to shame with these massive pink, gold, and silver falsies dangling to the middle of her cheek. To add size to her already round and bold eyes, she trailed her water line with a white liner and finished off the look with a bright pink lip that perfectly matched her dress. To keep her skin smooth throughout the night, makeup artist Sarah Tanno prepped Gaga’s face with the new, first-ever skin-care product from Marc Jacobs Beauty, Youthquake Hydra-Full Retexturizing Gel Crème ($59, Marc Jacobs Beauty).

When it came to the hair, she wore a bleach blonde bob wig adorned with hair-made bows across the crown of her head. Talk about extra.

Kris Jenner

Jenner was almost unrecognizable with her blonde asymmetric bob, which made her look decades younger. To add even more drama, she wore a blue smoky eye that corresponded with her royal blue jumpsuit.

Billy Porter

And if you were wondering how a drama legend shows up to fashion's biggest night, this is it. Porter said forget your shimmery eye shadow and showed up with his lids and their outer regions adorned with real pearls and jewels. He topped it all off with a chain headdress that put any fancy hair pin we thought we had to shame.

Ashley Graham

From head to toe, everything Ashley Graham wore this evening was an ode to fashion icon Dapper Dan. That included jeweled hair pins that spelled out Gucci, sea foam green eyeliner to complement the collar of her dress, furrowed brows, and a muted lip. The slick ponytail was created by none other than celebrity hairstylist Justine Marjan using Tresseme, ghd, and Kitsch hair pins.

Awkwafina

Staying on theme of matching eye makeup to wardrobe, Awkwafina stepped on the red carpet looking like literal 24K gold. To add contrast to the monochromatic theme, the look was finished off with a simple red lip.

Laverne Cox

Cox hit the carpet with a literal rainbow of colors on her face — and on her hair. Wearing an elaborate all-black gown, Cox wore a colorful, avant-garde beat for a masterful contrast that made her stunning face the true star of the evening.

Mindy Kaling

Looks like that April Fools' joke is sticking around a little longer than any of us expected. Kaling wore a full-on blonde wig to finish off her gold fairy godmother look and looked like a dream.

The drag queen showed up and showed out, putting the other campers to shame. We can't seem to figure out what we're freaking out over the most, the lime-green cut-crease eye look or the white, dripped-in-paint headdress — either way, we're living.

Natasha Lyonne

The Orange Is the New Black star showed up in full-on drag makeup, and we just couldn't get enough. The insanely smoked-out eye, super pale and contoured complexion, and indestructible waves mastered the theme flawlessly.

Now THIS is what we call a ponytail. Forget the traditional scrunchie; bright silver wire wrapped 75% of the way down is the only kind of energy we'll accept from ponies this year.

Danai Gurira

A top hat is not complete without beads, and the Black Panther star did it masterfully. The ever-stunning actress who never ceases to amaze kept it simple yet edgy and on-theme walking the red carpet.

Lupita Nyong'o

Though we were undoubtedly obsessed with Nyong'o's bold eye look, what really grabbed our attention was her hair. Adorned with hair picks, the look made a profound statement and made black girls everywhere proud.

Zoe Saldana

Saldana's voluminous, teased-out hair with purple flowers for accent was the perfect touch to her bronzed look.

If anyone was going to serve us "those punk rock boys from high school," it was going to be Stewart. She rocked a shaggy orange cut with the brows to match.

Ezra Miller

Miller did magic with his optical illusion makeup with more than three sets of eyeballs across his face. Even better, he finished it off with a bold red lip.
