Finally: A String Bikini That Actually Works for Plus-Size Women

With each passing summer, plus-size women are realizing they already have the "perfect beach body." Luckily many retailers have realized this too — but despite the rise in body acceptance, it seems designers are still intent on making swimwear that reshapes and squeezes our bodies in ways they don't naturally go. Model and designer Elizabeth Taylor is on a mission to eradicate that and accentuate the natural plus-size woman with her incredible indie brand Curvy Beach.

Taylor's string bikinis were born out of her "jealousy" of straight-size bikinis.

In an interview with Refinery29, Taylor noted that all the bikinis she encountered for plus-size women offered tons of coverage and very little support — and they also "disfigured" plus-size women's natural shape.

"... I thought it was very important that our bikinis just laid over our bodies and that it maintained your natural shape," she said.

The tops range in cup sizes C/D to DDD/G and the bottoms range from 12/14 to 20/22.

Taylor uses a small factory in Miami to produce her product, but she does pretty much everything else herself — from modeling her bikinis on her site to packaging and shipping them.

Now comes the part where I break your heart...

All of Taylor's fabulous designs are currently sold out — but hopefully the high demand will inspire her to expand her production.

'Til then, we'll wait in earnest to get our hands on her gorgeous designs.
