Kids Are Apparently Still Obsessed With This $6 Board Game From Our Youth

You can never go wrong with a classic. Although kids may be sucked into YouTube and tablets in ways we never were when we were kids, they still enjoy some of the relics from our past — especially when it comes to toys!

According to Amazon, the number one best selling toy right now is good old Connect 4. Over 3,000 parents and grandparents claim that this classic toy has been a huge hit with the kids in their lives.

"Hasbro Connect 4 Game was one of our daughter's absolute favorite games to play, growing up," wrote one reviewer. "In fact, she and her dad played a game of it almost every night as part of her bedtime routine. Our daughter now has kids of her own and it is time to continue the tradition of playing this game. We ordered it at Christmastime and have been looking forward to playing it with the grandchildren."

The game has some pretty long-lasting roots. Though it was produced in the iteration we've come to know and love in 1974, the concept goes much farther back. Historians estimate that the game of "four balls," a game where two players try to match four wooden balls of the same color before their opponent, dates back to somewhere between 1901 and 1910.

For just $5.51, you can't beat a game that has literally stood the test of time.
