Sofia Vergara’s ‘Butt-Sculpting Jeans’ Inspired Me to Wear Real Pants for Once

I'm not here to debate this indisputable fact: Leggings are the best thing that ever happened to female fashion. With the rise (and hopeful, never, ever fall) of leggings, my life's comfortability increased about 100%. And once I became a mother, I can count on one hand the amount of times I've slipped on jeans since giving birth.

The truth is, as an already curvy woman who got a lot of extra curves after giving birth, jeans just didn't feel … doable. My curves need extra support and things are a little floppier than they were before, and most jeans I've encountered postpartum have been less than flattering. All of this to say: It takes a LOT to get me out of my leggings.

So when I got a chance to try on Sofia Vergara's exclusive Walmart line of jeans, I skeptically agreed.

I mean they are certainly cute, but did they have the power to make my mama pooch and deflated butt feel like the million bucks leggings did? The brand promised that the jeans are super curvy friendly, with huggable stretch and adorable details. Not to mention, they are retailing for only $17.99

So, I decided to give it a whirl. Though I am regularly a size 18, I ordered both a size 18 and a size 20 to be on the safe side. The size range extends to a 22, which is fairly inclusive for a brand, and they are available in three different washes.

My gut instinct was right to size up, and when I slipped on the size 20, my first reaction was ... shock.

They actually fit really well; the discomfort wasn't as nearly as terrible as I had anticipated. Not only were they pretty comfortable (the band did cut into my squishy belly a bit) they actually looked good.

They did a great job of defining my curves and natural waistline, enhancing my semi-hourglass figure.

… but they also did a good job of holding in my after-birth belly. Although I'm not sure 'd rock a tucked-in shirt with these jeans, I did feel pretty confident wearing them, which is saying a lot for a leggings-dedicated gal.

The details in the ankle were a nice touch.

It added just the right amount of personality to give these jeans a little edge.

But the real winner here was something I never expected.

My butt looked BANGING in this jeans. I won't even lie — I didn't even know it could look that good! With the help of these jeans, my butt looks defined, sculpted, and, dare I say, even perky from literally any angle, which is enough to make me want to buy them in every color.

Although I'm not sure I'm ready to part from my beloved leggings, I can say that these jeans are almost a total win for me.

Perhaps instead of rolling out of bed and throwing on my oversized T-shirt, when I need a little extra boost of confidence, I'll slip these bad boys on.
