With warm weather on the horizon, my 15-year-old daughter and I set out on a shopping spree this week to find some spring dresses for teens.
Although my teen daughters don’t rock a ton of dresses in their daily lives, they do occasionally like to dress up. For instance, we attend church as a family where they like to wear dresses, they have “dress up” days at school for game days, and there’s always the fancy function to attend, such as a bridal shower or party.
We stopped into Kohl’s and found that the store now carries the Aeropostale brand. I’m not sure when that switch happened, but we were both pleasantly surprised by all the new options for teen clothing. To be perfectly honest, my daughters have avoided shopping at Kohl’s for the past couple of years because the junior and teen options have not been great – but this week’s trip changed both of our thinking.

My 15-year-old daughter picked out this pretty white number from Aeropostale on our shopping spree to Kohl’s, and it was both mom- and teen-approved. We both loved the delicate cap sleeves and the lace-up detail, and the white-cream color stood out as the perfect spring option. My daughter also chose this pretty green floral dress, which has similar details with a fitted waist, cap sleeves, and a ruffled skirt. This dress is also on major sale, so I was surprised to find it was still available in all sizes, from XS through XL.
A major bonus of this dress? It has pockets! They are small pockets, but they are pockets nonetheless. We both also appreciated that the dress was a longer length than some babydolls, because my daughter has long legs for her height.

My daughter was drawn to both the pretty pink color of this dress and its more loose-fitting design compared to some of the other picks. Some days, you just want to be comfortable, and this is a great option to feel polished while having more breathing room. I’m going to be honest with you — I almost bought this dress for myself because I love it so much. I wasn’t sure how the dress would look on my “mom pouch” so I skipped it, but as far as spring dresses for teens go, it was a winner for my daughter.
She loved the long length option and that it was sleeveless, so she could pair it with a jacket or sweater and remove it if she got too warm. The colors and patterns were also so cute: two striped options and three solid colors.
Juniors' Plus Size SO® Crocheted Hoodie Dress
As a plus-sized teen spring dress, we loved the unique details on this pick, which has a crocheted design and a peek-a-boo hood. The dress comes in sizes 1X through 3X, as well as three spring-ready colors of cream, coral, and a very light green.
The dress is a cotton blend but machine-washable and features a straight hem and slim fit with buttons down the front. One of the reviews notes that the light cotton blend can be see-through, so you may need to consider adding a slip underneath or wearing it as a cover-up.
