9 things I have in my closet that I think every woman should own

To me, fashion is about what designers put on runways and in expensive stores. Style, on the ther hand, is what you make of it.

Or as the great Geraldine Stutz said, "Fashion says me, too. Style says only me."

As a style blogger, I have experimented A LOT with my personal style — from goth looks in high school to leggings, blazers, and Kardashian-copied outfits in college

But after years of trial and error, I've finally found my style, which I hope will inspire you to find yours.

1. A denim jacket

Most of my essentials can be worn year round. One that you will always find in my closet is the classic denim jacket. Lighter wash denim jackets look great with a fur vest layered overtop.

Currently I'm currently obsessed with this oversize denim jacket from ASOS.

2. Thigh-high boots

A simple way to dress up any outfit is by wearing thigh-high boots. Since they make a big statement, I opt for neutral or classic black.

Practically speaking, thigh-high boots are perfect for transitional weather. Pair them with a skirt on warmer days or pull them overtop leggings when the mercury falls.

These boots are from Rainbow.

3. A faux leather skirt

The first item I bought when I started blogging was a skater leather skirt. I was able to style it in so many ways that it became a staple in my closet.

You can also dress it down with cool sneakers.

4. Sunglasses

No outfit is complete without a great pair of sunglasses. I rotate between Ray-Ban Clubmasters, red glitter Miu Mius, and these mirror lens sunnies from Zero UV.

Outfit = complete.

5. Wild shoes

This is especially important if you're a monochromatic dresser or own a lot of black.

These silver booties from ASOS make my denim-on-denim feel like less of a uniform and more of a statement.

6. Something trendy

Even if you like to keep it classic, it's fun to buy at least one trendy piece a season. Right now I'm all about bomber jackets (in addition to thigh-highs and fringed jeans).

I picked up this pink bomber from Forever 21.

7. Sneakers.

There are so many to choose from now! Fashion sneakers, throwback sneakers, platform sneakers — just ALL the sneakers!

I love wearing a pair of sneakers with a dress or a skirt. It feels like the perfect balance between feminine and masculine.

8. A comfy moto jacket

This is another great fall essential that's excellent for layering during the cold days of winter.

You can wear it with anything for instant edge.

9. A chambray button-down

Many stylists will tell you to have a classic white button-down, but for me, a chambray shirt is way more fun.

Canadian tuxedo with a twist.
