The internet is full of cringy gender reveal parties, awkward proposals, and uncomfortable wedding ceremonies from all over the world. In some ways, our best and worst moments are almost always on display for everyone else to comment on and poke fun at. That’s what happened when one woman shared her fiancĆ©‘s proposal to her in a TikTok that had some users questioning how in love she and her soon-to-be husband actually are.
Again, making jokes at the expense of others, especially people who are the subject of some viral videos, is common on social media platforms. The woman who posted the video even replied to some of the comments to join in on the fun. Because, in the video, she not only makes the most shocked and meme-able face when her boyfriend proposes, but she also almost looks like a stranger just asked her to marry him.

Some users wondered how well the couple even know each other.
The video starts off as many viral proposal videos do, with the man on bended knee and the woman none the wiser. So when she glances behind her and sees that her boyfriend is on his knee with a ring out, she freezes. Her face, with wide eyes and an almost disgusted expression, flips back to the person filming her. Clearly, she did not expect this to happen here and now.
Things get a little more wholesome when the woman asks, “Are you serious?” and then exclaims, “No way!” He asks her to marry him, and that’s when things finally sink in for the future bride-to-be.
She grabs her new fiancĆ©’s shoulder and tosses her napkin down on the table. Clearly, this couple is ready for this big leap. But, up until he actually pops the question, for many viewers, it doesn’t look like the two even know each other.
“I was watching without sound and genuinely thought he was a weird stranger who surprised you for the first 25 seconds lol,” one person commented. At the very least, the woman who posted the video liked the comment.
“Wait, what I think this is cute,” another person commented. “she’s so funny, she was like so shocked and couldn’t believe he was actually asking her that. She literally started crying tears of joy, like ugh I wish them the best.”
There are other comments, though, from less enthusiastic fans of true love and future wedded bliss, such as the person who wrote, “The way she reacted, I thought this was a homeless man just asking random women.”
Another comment mused that the woman gave off the vibe of having only dated her boyfriend for a couple of weeks. But, it turns out, that’s not the case at all. In fact, the newly engaged couple have a child together and they just have a quirky sense of humor ā so much so that the TikToker is so used to being pranked and messed with, and it was only natural for her to be shocked by the proposal.
When someone commented to ask how many times her now-fiancĆ© has pranked her, the creator replied, “The limit does not exist.”
The woman who made the TikTok also commented to let the other people know that she plans to make a video about her and her now-fiancĆ©’s story. Because no, they are not strangers. And yes, they now know how the proposal video looks to others.
