Cardi B has always been unapologetic about her decisions, particularly when it comes to her body. And while it's no surprise that she's covered in permanent ink, fans were taken for a loop when they discovered that her latest tattoo is a tribute to her fiancé Offset, hip-hop superstar and member of rap group Migos.
The large cursive script tattoo, which appears to be written across the back of her thigh, was revealed to social media in the most Cardi B way possible, and fans aren't sure what to think. Check out the massive ode to the father of her child and how fans are reacting to the unexpected news.
It's no secret that Offset already has a little Cardi B–inspired ink.
The large neck tattoo, first spotted in January of 2018, has huge letters spelling out "Cardi B" just below his Powerpuff Girls tattoo of Buttercup. It really came as no surprise that the inked-up rapper, who has all of his kids' names on his skin, also chose to add Cardi's name to the mix.
Well, it appears that Cardi has decided to match his energy.
With a screenshot from a FaceTime call with his fiancée, Offset showed a hilarious image that appears to be Cardi lifting up her legs and showing off large script lettering spelling "Offset" on the back of her thigh.
"CANT WAIT TO GET HOME," he captioned the Instagram post.
But fans weren't thrilled to see the newest addition to Cardi's tattoo collection.
Given the tumultuous nature of the duo's relationship — Offset notably cheated on his fiancée last year in a very messy and public affair — people were skeptical of her choice to permanently mark her body with a tribute to him.
"He cheated on her and she still got a tattoo for him," someone tweeted quite matter-of-factly about the state of their relationship.
And boy, Twitter wouldn't let her live it down.
"Hold up so @iamcardib got a tattoo of a mans name. A man who cheated on her when she was pregnant & after whilst she was recovering from childbirth at home with their baby aaaiiieeeeee no bueno No wonder men think they can do what they want," another wrote, reiterating similar sentiments.
People also noted that Offset is not even the rapper's real name.
And while Cardi B is not hers, either, their using each other's stage names rather than their real names continued to confuse people.
"It would hit differently if she would have gotten Offset REAL name tattooed," someone tweeted.
"I saw it and said out loud THAT'S NOT EVEN HIS REAL NAME!!!" another responded.
His legal first name is Kiari, by the way.
But not everyone was upset by the new ink.
"People need to leave cardi alone she aint hurting anybody and yet the haters still be in her inbox. She in live with her husband and she getting them bags.I love u cardi [redacted] the hating," wrote a supportive fan under the photo of the new tattoo.
At the end of the day, we all just want Cardi to be happy.
"I don’t support tattoos of others on your body. What I do support is the feeling that cardi has for her husband regardless of the history because who lays next to him is her and if she felt strongly about him to do that then it’s her right to Period !!!! In the end of the day there’s removal for it. Though I hope she can live a life time with it because you should always wish people happiness I’m supporting her as I wish to be supported on day Go Cardi !!!!!" an Instagram commenter wrote.
And while you probably won't catch us inking our bodies with the names of our nonexistent significant others anytime soon, we're not judging Cardi for it, either.
