Deciding to end a marriage is not a decision one should take lightly, even when a person may have every reason to do so. Thatâs why when Vanessa Sullivan learned that her husband was cheating on her, she and her husband separated but were also in the process of seeing if they could save their marriage. Then she got a phone call.
The call was a butt-dial â an accidental one. But it revealed everything she needed to know about her husband, his true intentions, and what Vanessa needed to do to move forward.
Vanessa and her husband were separated but in communication.
Vanessa knew that her husband had been cheating on her. But he assured her that the relationship with the other woman was over. He said the affair partner was out of his life. But that wasnât entirely true. Because one day after Vanessa and her husband got off the phone, he butt-dialed her. And he wasnât alone.
He was in the company of the other woman, speaking about the nature of their relationship. Vanessa started recording and shared the audio of the two cheaters on TikTok.Â
@iamnessers The divorce was final awhile ago & I won the sweet prize of freedom, by the way. đ

Because itâs a pocket dial, we canât hear everything thatâs being said. But what is clear is that this woman â who was also married â is fighting to keep this man in her life. She asks him, âWhat if she [Vanessa] says she doesnât want a divorce?â Vanessaâs husband reminds her that he also doesnât want a divorce. But thereâs no mention of ending their relationship or no longer seeing one another.
The woman was also married.
In the text over a video, Vanessa writes, âShe was 100% ok remaining his side piece while he stayed with me.â After she heard what she did, Vanessa made a decision. In the caption for the video she wrote, âThe divorce was final a while ago & I won the sweet prize of my freedom.â Lovely.
In the comments section, people had follow-up questions. One person wondered what her husband had to say for himself after she confronted him with this evidence. Vanessa was gracious enough to share. âHe was âsorry I had to hear all that. And did I hear the part where they were going to stop seeing each other so he could work on his marriage.â LOL I didnât.â
Vanessa offered advice for other women experiencing this.
Sadly, Vanessa is not the first woman to experience this. And she wonât be the last. In her comments section someone asked how they should navigate this same situation. She shared her opinion. âLeave and file for divorce now,â she wrote. âAnd go no contact. It will be painful but you will get through it, and you will be better than ok!â
