Prior to attending a family gathering, one couple was blissfully unaware they’re actually related to each other. In a video shared on TikTok, the woman and man explained that an interaction at the family reunion made it clear they actually have the same father, which means they are half-siblings. Though the boyfriend described this discovery as “scary,” it seems the couple has no plans to part ways.
In the video shared by @messy_news on TikTok, the couple said that while at the family gathering, the woman wanted to introduce her boyfriend to her “favorite auntie.” The man explained that “one thing led to another and I found out that my pops had (my girlfriend) a few years before he had me.”
Though it’s unclear how they managed to date each other without realizing they shared a father, they did say their father had “a whole bunch of other kids.” The interviewer asked the couple how many kids their father had, and they said he’s a father to 21 children.

The woman also clarified that she grew up without any family involved in her life. Although the pair believe that some people have judged them for their romantic relationship, they don’t think it’s that “weird” given how they grew up. The woman said, “A few people on his side of the family were like, ‘Oh, that’s weird,’ and they didn’t agree with it at first.”
Her boyfriend, however, tried to explain how they ended up dating in spite of being biological siblings. “When he put it how he put it, like how is it weird? ‘She grew up how she grew up and she didn’t really have nobody … and we just kind of met,'” the woman explained, sharing her boyfriend’s remarks.
In the comments section, people had questions. “Did they never talk about parents?” one person wondered. Someone else wrote, “Justifying it by saying we grew up separated is wild.”
Others wondered why the couple would willingly share this story. “Couldn’t pay me to admit this,” one of them commented.
Given how far-fetched the story seemed, others had doubts about the video’s authenticity and questioned whether it was actually something made up by AI.
