Bride Is Visibly ‘Distracted’ After Guest Lets Baby Cry During Child-Free Wedding Ceremony

A crying baby is a distraction no matter where you are. But when you’re attending an event like a wedding, it somehow feels worse. It’s easy for your crying baby to pull the focus from the couple getting married. And many parents would be embarrassed that their child was causing a distraction.

One bride has gone viral after sharing that a guest brought a baby to her child-free wedding. Not only that, the baby began to cry during the ceremony, and the parent refused to leave. How embarrassing!

The video shows it all.

Bride Claire Kendall Taetz, shared the video of her wedding ceremony on her TikTok. While the video focuses on Taetz and her husband’s ceremony, the baby can be heard wailing in the background. At one point, you can hear the tiny voice scream “No!”

Everyone is doing their best to avoid it, but you can tell discomfort is growing. The video cuts to Taetz shooting a look into the crowd, as well as the maid of honor and groomsmen.

“When a guest refuses to take their screaming child out of your wedding ceremony because ‘they drove 10 hours to see it,'” the text over the video reads.

People offered to help with the baby.

“Mind you, this went on for 10 minutes and said guest refused people offering to take child out for him. Mother of bride whipped around and motioned to ‘take her out,'” Taetz wrote in the video’s caption.

Taetz spoke with the New York Post about the incident, saying that the person “stepped out for a second but he came right back inside” with the baby.

She had carefully planned for a mostly child-free wedding.

Taetz told the outlet she planned an “adults-only” ceremony, with the exception of the couple’s nieces and nephews. She was “made aware of the baby crying” as she went down the aisle.

She admitted that the baby’s presence “definitely distracted me.” Not only that, but the actions of the adult “left me feeling disrespected.” She said that the crying baby had her “on edge the whole time.”

“I was confused but also trying to stay present because it was an important moment so I tried to focus on my soon-to-be husband and on the [officiant]. My husband was concerned as well and in the video you can see he was trying to lock in, despite the child fussing loudly,” she said.

She definitely would do things differently next time.

Ultimately, the crying baby will just be an anecdote about her wedding day. Despite the distraction, the ceremony “was still so sweet and special that I don’t think the baby spoiled it but it did take my focus in and out, especially when you have a lot of nerves.”

However, she thinks that child-free weddings are totally legit. “A lot of people are pressured by family members but I don’t think it’s rude to have one. It’s a decision for the groom and bride to make without pressure,” she said.
