Couple Throws Wedding Outside in 95°F Heat Then Charges Guests for Bottled Water

It’s definitely not unheard of for celebratory occasions to come with stress and drama. Unfortunately, a recent “disaster of a wedding” left much to be desired – including water. Apparently, although the bride and groom held their ceremony outdoors on a scorching hot day, guests had to pay for water. But the drama and discomfort didn’t end there. It somehow got way worse.

It was about 95 degrees that day.

To be fair, the bride and groom didn’t know exactly what the weather would be like on their wedding day. But according to one of the guests, they didn’t even warn people that the wedding would be outside. The invitation just included some basic details about the date and the location, and online, the venue appeared to be indoors.

Because of the confusion, some guests wore “shorts, tees, and slip-ons,” while others opted for “floor-length gowns,” the disgruntled guest explained on Reddit. To make it even worse, it was incredibly humid that day.

And guests had to pay for water.

After the ceremony ended, the wedding guest was really hot and sweaty and headed directly to the bar for some water. “At this point, I am drowning in my own sweat, and all I want is water,” the guest wrote. However, at the front of the line, the guest learned that water would cost them $2, which felt outrageous. “I look up and I see the sign,” the person recalled. “No free beverages – period. Not even water.”

Yikes.

When it came time for dinner, the guest noticed ‘flies all over the food.’

The disgruntled guest was pretty hungry and thought the food looked great but upon closer inspection, realized the environment didn’t seem sanitary at all. The guest noticed tons of flies swarming around the food. “Seriously, all up in the food,” the person wrote. “I take the smallest amount possible to be polite. I was so hungry and desperate that I did take a few bites.”

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the dessert was affected by the same fly issue. But flies aside, wedding guests didn’t even have any utensils to use to eat the dessert. “How am I supposed to eat the dessert?” the guest complained. “There are no plates, napkins, forks, nothing. The buffet equipment has been cleared. So I watched as people walked around holding dessert in their hands.”

Then, in a moment that didn’t feel like ‘real life,’ the groom got into a fight.

As the wedding celebration continued, the wedding guest felt like it had to be a joke or something. Although some of the speeches were actually heartfelt, at some point the “brother started a fight with the groom.”

The guest “couldn’t hear what it was about above the screaming kids” at the reception, but it was “a literal fight.” It escalated to the point that it “got taken to the lawn” and “people gathered to assist.” The disgruntled guest took this as a sign to leave. The guest is now hesitant to attend other wedding celebrations.

Reacting to the ridiculous story, one Redditor said the bride and groom took the concept of a “dry wedding” to a whole new level. “I have no issue with a dry wedding in the traditional sense,” the commenter wrote. “It’s totally fine with me if there’s no alcohol, BUT dry does NOT mean literally dry where you can’t even get water!”

Another person offered a simple summary of the disastrous wedding: “This wasn’t a wedding. It was a survival challenge.”
