On the night that she married the love of her life, a bride ended up alone. After the wedding ceremony, her groom was nowhere to be found. He didn’t even attend their wedding reception. That night, she didn’t know why her new husband had disappeared. In fact, months went by before she found out exactly what happened to him.
The wedding was meant to be magical.
The woman, who identified herself as “Kylie” on the Australian radio show Late Drive with Ben, Liam & Belle, was in love with her groom. She had been with him for six years before getting married. On their wedding day, they both went through with their ceremony and photo session as planned.
But by the time the reception started, the groom was already gone.
Asked if anything seemed amiss leading up to the wedding reception, Kylie suggested that everything seemed fine. She said that her groom was “beautiful” and “the love of my life.” However, it seems like he felt a bit differently.
“We got married, had a beautiful wedding, the reception — he was gone,” Kylie said. “Absolutely disappeared and I did not hear anything from him for months.”
This meant that the wedding reception carried on without him, leaving Kylie alone on her wedding night. “Everyone was fine to just eat the food and have a good night,” she said. “I went and stayed in the room by myself.”
Months later, she found out why he left.
Surely, it would be awkward to get married and have your husband disappear. Asked how she explained everything to her family, Kylie said it was definitely “hard” at first. Months after their wedding, she finally heard from him and found out that he didn’t want to be with her.
“He didn’t want to be with me,” Kylie said. “He was seeing somebody else, but he let us get married.” She did not specify why her ex went through with the wedding.
To make it even worse, he was cheating on her with one of her relatives.

Finding out that your husband actually loves someone else is hard enough. But in Kylie’s case, the realization was even more dramatic because she found out her husband was actually in love with her cousin.
To this day, Kylie’s ex is still with her cousin, but she doesn’t see either of them now. It seems as though she avoids any family functions that they might be at because she has no desire to run into them. “That would be really awkward,” she stated.
She’s finding humor in the situation.
Kylie’s wedding story is definitely a strange one. On the show, she said she hasn’t gotten remarried since then, but she has kids from a previous relationship. Her kids find the wedding disaster “hilarious.” “It’s brought up all the time,” she said.
