Walmart announced a new shopping service today that's going head to head with Amazon Prime to make shopping online your go-to solution.
But it's more than that. It's also a touch-free, in-store shopping solution.
Walmart has stores everywhere. And that means the merchant has the goods you want nearby. Walmart+ is a new strategy for getting those goods to you easily, quickly, and affordably.
Here's everything you need to know about this new service that launches on September 15.
It's a membership service.
When the service launches on September 15, it will cost $98 a year or $12.95 a month. There will be a 15-day free trial period so you can try it out before you commit.
If you already subscribed to Walmart's Delivery Unlimited service, which allowed you to receive an unlimited number of deliveries for a flat monthly or yearly fee, you will automatically be a member of Walmart+. You will get more benefits, though. Read on!
Unlimited free home delivery
When you become a Walmart+ member, you can have all your groceries delivered for exactly what they would cost if you went into the store and shopped for them yourself.
You can shop from among 160,000 items, including groceries, toys, technology, and more.
This was previously called Delivery Unlimited.
Touch-free in-store shopping
When you brave a local Walmart to go shopping, you can take advantage of Scan & Go while you shop. You use the Walmart app to scan items as you shop. And then you pay, in the app, with a touch-free payment system.
No more lines! And it's so futuristic!
Fuel discounts!
You can fill up your car at a local Walmart, Murphy USA, or Murphy Express gas stations and save 5 cents per gallon if you are a Walmart+ member.
Walmart is planning to add benefits to this membership as time goes on. Next up on the gas benefit? Sam's Club fuel stations.
More benefits coming!
Walmart also offers free curbside pickup, NextDay delivery, and two-day delivery. The company plans to keep adding more benefits to this premium membership plan as the ideas come.
So if you like Walmart grocery prices but aren't all that keen to drag the kids into the supermarket these days, mark your calendar for September 15 and sign up for Walmart+!
Psst: If you choose to purchase an item from this post, CafeMom may receive a small cut. Prices are up to date at the time of publication; however, prices may be different at a later date.
