I’ve found the secret to making press-on nails last for 2 weeks

The struggle for nail-art-loving-millennials is real. Either you a) don’t have the time, b) don’t have the steady hand, or c) don’t have the $50 or more to spend at the salon every two weeks.

 Enter a ’90s classic: press-on nails!

I’ve been wearing them for a while now and they’re actually pretty amazing. The trick is to use the right glue and to file the surface of your nails beforehand. Follow these five steps and I promise you’ll be able to get 1-2 weeks of wear out of your press-ons.

STEP 1: Clip or file your nails as short as possible so they don’t peek out from under the press-on.

__STEP 2: File the surface of your nails. This will create a better grip between the press-on and the glue.

STEP 3: Place a drop of glue on both your nail and the press-on nail. The glue that gives me two weeks of hold is Kiss Precision.

STEP 4: Apply the press-on, making sure that the bottom end pushes ever-so-slightly under your cuticle. Use pressure to hold for five seconds.__

STEP 5: Apply a clear nail coat overtop. This step is crucial to give the look of a fresh manicure

TIP: Give your nails a two-week breather between press-ons. The glue can damage your nails if you use it too often. Once a month is safe for me.
