You've been waiting anxiously, and now it's here: Jeffree Star has finally shown us EVERYTHING in his 2016 holiday collection β and it's everything you wanted. From wearable instant classics to crazy, sexy shades, this holiday drop is anything but boring.
2016 was a huge year for Star β and his holiday collection will be bigger than ever before.
This year, there will be eight holiday lip colors and two highlighters, all in limited edition red packaging. Seven lip shades will be launching on Black Friday (November 25), and one will be a very special Cyber Monday release (November 28).
And speaking of packaging: Star says he's stepped up his Velour Liquid Lip tube, making it more airtight β when you twist the cap to close it, it now clicks, so you know it's REALLY closed. Bye bye, dried out lipsticks!
To help him swatch alllllll these products, Star enlisted the help of Nikita Dragun.
Nikita β who is a JSC brand ambassador and face of the holiday line β is basically the best, and I would like her in all videos, always. Please and thank you.
The first holiday shade is Crocodile Tears β a deep, ivy green.
It's a darker, more seductive version of last year's holiday green lip color, Mistletoe.
It's VERY rich and opaque.
And if you're afraid of dark lips, "Shut the fuck up and try it anyway," said Star in the video.
βIβm actually feeling like I need to go rob a bank,β said Nikita.
High praise indeed.
The second shade is Deceased, described a mauve-nude.
We've already had a sneak peek at this bad boy, and I'm glad to see that it's as pretty as fans were expecting.
"This is very universal," said Nikita of this grandmother's rug shade.
No shade in that description β that's just what these muted pinky-purples remind me of. It's very "Murder She Wrote" in the best way.
Deceased dries down to a much deeper, more wearable mauve than I was expecting.
"If Scorpio had a little sister, this would be her," said Star. "I feel like this shade was missing from my collection."
Next up is Pumpkin Pie, a shimmery-dusty orange.
"I am a pumpkin pie whore," said Star, who named this color after his favorite dessert. But this color isn't your standard fall-leaf matte β "It has little micas of glitter in it."
Star explains that Pumpkin Pie is a little on the safer side, so everyone can wear it.
But that doesn't mean it's boring.
Pumpkin Pie isn't just a cute '90s-inspired orange, it has a secret surprise.
"If you rub it," Star explains. "You activate the glitter more." This really didn't show up on camera, but apparently gently rubbing this shade with your finger makes it way more sparkly. So now you know!
The DARKEST holiday shade is Designer Blood β a deep, rich scarlet with gold shift.
Inspired by Star's bestselling Unicorn Blood shade, this color is super sexy and vampy.
It's supposedly less of a rusty-red than Unicorn Blood, but... I don't see the difference?
There's a good chance that the gold shift just doesn't show up on camera… but this looks exactly like Unicorn Blood to me.
Regardless, Designer Blood = very pretty dark red.
This is the shade I gravitate to the MOST, but I also have the least to say about it. OK moving on.
The lightest holiday 2016 shade is Chrysanthemum, a soft pink-nude with fine glitter throughout.
God bless spellcheck, because my dyslexic ass cannot spell "Chrysanthemum" for ANY AMOUNT OF MONEY ON EARTH OMG.
Jeffree says that this "soft" shade was inspired by his grandmother.
"My grandma would cover the entire house with chrysanthemums around the holidays, and she loved wearing pink-nudes," says Star. "It reminds me of her."
Aww.
If you're looking for a pretty every day color, this is your best bet.
This color on Nikita, tho. *hearts for eyes emoji*
From a soft pink to the loudest candy-cane red imaginable, this is Checkmate.
"I had to create something a little loud, a little obnoxious, a little BAM," said Star, adding that his longtime boyfriend, Nathan, named this firey shade.
Once applied, you can REALLY see how neon and orange-y Checkmate really is.
Damn. βJust looking at it Iβd be like βThatβs not for me, I could never pull that off," said Nikita. "But I put it on and Iβm like, HIEEEEEE."
"I think we sometimes get stuck in a rut, of always wearing the same shades," said Star. "But I think we should try stepping out of the box, and giving it a whirl.β
In other words: even if you're normally All Nudes All The Time, try a color like Checkmate. Change is fun!
The next holiday shade is Sagittarius, a medium dusty-mauve.
Star says this shade is what would happen if Scorpio and Androgyny had a baby. This is the second color name that my dyslexic brain cannot goddamn handle; thank you, autocorrect.
This is a shade people might be unsure about, Jeffree explains. But once they try it, they'll love it.
It's definitely unexpected.
Star is also quick to point out that Deceased and Sagittarius are NOT the same.
Deceased is more nude, and Sag is more purple. THE MORE U KNOW.
These seven lip colors will be available on Black Friday (November 25).
They are all limited edition, and will cost $18 a piece β you'll be able to buy them individually, or in a seven-piece bundle for $99.99. Just in case you need to catch them all. Buy them on Jeffreestarcosmetics.com
This is Dreamhouse, Star's first EVER metallic shade. This color goes onsale on Cyber Monday (November 28).
Star says he has way MORE metallic lip colors on the way, now that he has the formula right.
It's really pink, and really shiny. "This is the color of my soul," Jeffree explains.
It really IS Dreamhouse Pink.
Dreamhouse also comes with a ferocious bargain.
There's free shipping all Cyber Monday on Jeffree Star Cosmetics. Pass it on.
J. Star is ALSO dropping not one, but TWO pink highlighters on November 25!
That's Regina George on the left, and Princess Cut on the right.
Jeffree showed what both of these highlighters actually look like when blended β and they're really cute.
He lay down a base of Princess Cut (a light, frosty baby pink) all over Nikita's cheekbone, then added a hint of Regina George on the high points of her face with a fan brush. The result: a super-frosty ombre-pink highlight that is basically blinding.
Like, ACTUALLY blinding.
βI thought this was a subtle dew, like I just walked out of the house,β said Nikita. No, itβs VERY serious.
