We shouldn't be surprised that although Kat Von D just gave birth to a baby boy last month, she's already back on the grind creating new makeup for Kat Von D Beauty, tattooing, and finalizing styles for her upcoming vegan shoe brand, Von D Shoes.
Last year Von D teased several of her unique shoes designs on Instagram and caused a huge fan flurry, and now those designs are getting put together and packaged in a factory. That means a release date for Von D Shoes is surely just around the corner.
Peek several new photos of the shoe collection below, and try to hold back your squeals of joy.
Kat Von D is no stranger to the world of bizarre and beautiful shoes.
In fact, I don't think I've clocked Von D without a pair of avant garde platform heels since the early '00s. Her shoe closet is every goth woman's dream come true.
Which is why it's no surprise that the makeup mogul has been designing her own shoe line for years.
"Day 1 of working on my upcoming vegan shoe collection. Sizing up heels for this pair of post-apocalyptic asymmetrical vegan-leather heels I designed," she wrote in this post from September 2017.
Word of the shoe brand, which has been in the works since 2017, has been quiet lately — until now.
Here you'll see one of Von D's favorite shoe designs, finally all lined up and ready to package. That must mean an official brand launch date is coming closer and closer.
Von D herself just posted some new factory photos of Von D Shoes no one's seen yet.
These look like an elevated platform version of some classic '50s-inspired oxfords. The best part is that they're going to be available from sizes 5 to 12, unlike many shoe brands.
She even shared a sneak preview of her — wait for it — faux-fur MOON BOOTS.
These are so goth, they're taking me back to 2005 when YouTube was brand-new and the most popular video on the internet was the cybergoths dancing under the overpass meme.
When Von D initially announced this shoe line, she stated it was coming out "this year," which would've been 2018.
She revealed at the time that the line would include "platforms, flats, boots, sneakers, sandals, slip-ons, creepers, winklepickers, and even a pair of furry moon boots!"
I don't know what winklepickers are, but I want them.
That obviously didn't happen, due to what I'm sure are many major circumstances.
For one, Kat Von D rekindled her friendship with and then ended up marrying Prayers singer Rafael Reyes while all this shoe designing was going down. That probably kept her pretty busy, among all her many other jobs.
She also became pregnant with her first child, Leafar, in 2018 — another valid reason to hold off on the Von D Shoes release.
Listen, if I were pregnant, I'd drop everything. Von D still managed to have a fulfilling tattooing career and launched a crap ton of products with Kat Von D Beauty while pregnant.
Regardless, the goth and vegan worlds are still going to be very hyped about the potential for an early 2019 launch, which seems to be getting close.
Von D has yet to confirm an actual launch date, but our shoe senses are tingling.
Von D Shoes, as confirmed by Von D on Instagram, will carry boots, heels, sandals, and more in sizes 5 through 11.
The pair in the photo above is a vegan leather moto boot with a zip in the back for easy access. "The top portion folds down if you wanna be all pirate about it," Von D wrote.
The entirely vegan collection is manufactured in Italy and will ship internationally.
This is the first prototype for Von D Shoes' storage boxes — who knows what other design goodies she's added to the packaging since this photo was taken.
Von D also says the shoes range will be "affordable" but not "as cheap as Payless."
I'm not quite sure what that means exactly, but I can't imagine Kat Von D's idea of affordable is the same as plebs'. I can only hope they'll be under $150.
I'm also willing to bet that every single shoe in this line will be black, white, or red. You know, Von D's signature colors.
Seriously, when's the last time you saw Von D strolling around town in a color that wasn't one of those three hues? Probably a solid 10 years ago.
Whatever is in store for this shoe brand, I'm hyped for it.
Again, the release date for Von D Shoes is TBD, but Revelist will let you know the second that changes. Kat, where are you hiding all the deets?
