Lizzo Wore Her Natural Hair On The Red Carpet And Twitter Can’t Stop Drooling

Over the past few years, natural hair has dominated red carpets and awards shows everywhere. With everything from protective styles to textured updos and more, brown girls are unapologetically embracing their hair no matter the occasion. So it's only right that the queen of unapologetic, Lizzo, did the same last night at the 2019 BET Awards

The music star graced the celebration of blackness Sunday evening wearing her hair in a sleek, natural puff that has social media going nuts and professing its love all over Twitter.

At last night's BET awards, Lizzo was serving LOOKS.

Natural looks, that is. The music star hit last night's BET Awards red carpet looking radiant  and wearing her own hair in a large, slick puff. The completed look, inspired by woodgrain from head to toe, was complemented by the 100% natural updo and wooden-looking headdress that made Lizzo look like something fresh out of a museum.

The look was created by celebrity stylist Shelby Swain.

Swain, who's responsible for most if not all of Lizzo's iconic hairstyles, wanted to make sure the hair stayed true to theme.

“I wanted to create an iconic look for this event, especially since Lizzo wanted to wear wood grain as her dress! I thought wood grain hair would be perfect to match," she said in a press release.

And, of course, the wooden look had some... woody effects.

"I'm gay and I have a boner," one admirer tweeted. And he wasn't the only one that felt that way; fans everywhere have been losing it over the look and the legendary performance that followed on the awards show stage. Lizzo wowed with a jaw-dropping performance complete with lots of twerking, a flute solo, and a wedding theme.

But then again, she always looks stunning.

"If you missed her on the carpet head to toe woodgrain hair always beautiful," a fan tweeted of the look. And if you're a natural girl, the look is pretty simple to pull off — all you need is these three magical products and you're in business. Check out Swain's step-by-step ahead.

First, Swain used Suave For Natural Hair Sulfate-Free Cleansing Shampoo ($5, Walmart).

"To create this look, start off by prepping her hair with the Suave Professionals for Natural Hair Sulfate-Free Shampoo and Moisturizing Curl Conditioner. The conditioner provides a great amount of slip, which helped to detangle and bring out her luxurious curls — thanks to the shea butter and pure coconut oil found in this line!" she said.

Then to keep the curls hydrated, she used the Suave For Natural Hair Nourish & Strengthen Leave-In Conditioner ($5, Walmart).

"Next, use the Suave Professionals for Natural Hair Nourish & Strengthen Leave-In Conditioner to deeply moisturize hair to help protect against frizz. Let hair air dry! Once hair is air-dried, pull all of the hair back and tie it up into a ponytail by gathering all the hair and wrapping it around with a hair tie. To ensure the bun is secure, insert Bobby pins into the center of the bun," she continued.

Finally, she gave the puff the hold it needed with the Suave Firm Control Finishing Hair Spray ($6, Walmart).

"To finish her hair, I used Suave Professionals Firm Control Finishing Hairspray, which helped me seal the look for the night! For Lizzo’s look, I created a custom wood grain hat made of hair, which I painted and sewed into a braided base on her head," she finished.

So curly girls, now is your chance to rock your hair like Lizzo.
