Man’s Grip on Girlfriend as They Walk to Dinner Has Instagram Throwing Up Red Flags

Another day, another social media controversy. This time, an Instagram couple is going viral for a video of the pair walking down the street. Seems normal enough, right? The problem isn't what they are doing but in how they are doing it. Instead of walking hand-in-hand, the man has his hand on his lady’s neck, which has people all kinds of upset.

The couple, Molly and Jordy, appear to be having a pleasant time together, but his grip on her makes many people uncomfortable.

Was he trying to assert dominance?

We aren’t sure what was happening that day other than the caption, “Just taking a stroll to dinner.” Molly is dressed in a fancy dress, and Jordy is in all black.

As they are walking, Molly holds the camera up and videos herself smiling as Jordy looks in the other direction with his hand around her neck. Honestly, it looks uncomfortable, but she seems happy.

The text on the video is what got people up in arms.

The video has soft piano music, painting a pleasant scene, and the text reads, “Does anyone else’s man walk them?”

The comment section got involved, and let’s just say it was a no for most people.

Some thought it looked like Molly was in a dangerous situation.

One person wrote, “U look like ur being trafficked.”

Someone else agreed, writing, “Blink twice if you need help, ma’am.”

Another claimed Molly was under Jordy’s control. “Mama u have Stockholm Syndrome,” the person wrote.

Others thought Jordy was acting like Molly was imprisoned.

The way they were walking seemed strange to a lot of people.

“Why is he holding you like your a prisoner? This is not loving it is controlling," one comment reads.

One person recounted a memory of their own, “Went on a date with a police officer, and he kept doing that to me. He said 'sorry, I’m just used to handling inmates.' Immediately blocked after that date.”

But not everyone saw an issue.

Some people liked the way Jordy held Molly and thought it looked nice.

“Wait, can someone explain what’s wrong with this?” someone commented.

One woman wrote that the video made her happy. “Lol, what! Am I the only girl that finds this comforting?? looking at these comments blown away … When a guy does this I find it so safe and calming, to each their own.”

Others agreed.

“Lmao yes but apparently the relationship gurus and keyboard warriors are claiming I’m a victim so now I’m worried ” another comment reads.

Maybe it was just a joke?

It’s hard to tell. Molly and Jordy have more than 220,000 followers on Instagram alone. Much of their content is playful and funny. And although it may have been silly, it didn’t resonate with everyone and some found it triggering.

“know this post is probably a joke but I actually dated a man that did this. I called it 'sheep dogging.' He would control where I walked. We would laugh about how sweet and overprotective it was. Until I disagreed with him, and he almost ran me over with the car. He was extremely controlling and manipulative,” one woman pointed out.
