Miley Cyrus has made it no secret that she's moving on from her marriage to Liam Hemsworth. From dating to living a hot girl summer to a recent tattoo, she's proving that the single life is exactly what she wants right now.
So when she revealed some new ink this weekend, fans immediately began to speculate that it was in response to her pending divorce. Could she be happy that's she's finally getting some much-needed "freedom"?
When Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus were together, we were obsessed with their love.
Though not perfect, their love seemed to stand the test of time. The two were together on and off for 10 years, meeting on the set of The Last Song in 2009 and first being engaged in 2013. The two took a three-year break before reuniting in 2016 and marrying in December 2018. A young couple, no one judged their on and off again nature. And when they finally married, it seemed like it would be forever.
But after less than a year of marriage, things seemed to go left, and when it did it spiraled fast.
The sudden divorce was wrought with controversy, with Cyrus immediately moving on with longtime friend Kaitlynn Carter, leading to rumors that infidelity was the reason for the split. Hemsworth remained mum while Cyrus continued to date, finding her way into the arms of 22-year-old singer Cody Simpson, whom she recently split with in the past few weeks.
No stranger to self-expression, it appears that Cyrus is using tattoos to show how she's feeling as her divorce continues.
She just got a knuckle tattoo with the word "Freedom" written across her hand. The declaration seems to be for her ex-husband, and a message of breaking free. The ink was created by none other than L.A. tattoo artist Winter Stone.
She also got a heartfelt note tattooed.
The tattoo reads: "I’m proud of U. —Yoko." It's a replica of Yoko Ono's handwriting and a note that Ono wrote to Cyrus.
Sigh...
It looks like the saga of Hemsworth and Cyrus has really come to a close. Our teenage love goals are gone for good.
