If there's one thing we live for, it's celebrity hair switch-ups. The right hair makeover on our favorite celebs can immediately inspire us to try something new. Whether it be a cut, some new color, or just a fun new style, there's no limit to where our hair imagination can soar. These changes, however, become even more exciting when it's from a celeb who's known for usually keeping it simple. Take for instance, Mindy Kaling.
The comedian revealed new hair yesterday in celebration of April Fools' Day, and unfortunately, it wasn't real. But that didn't stop us from wishing it was. Check it out.
Mindy Kaling is known for keeping it simple when it comes to her hair.
We almost always know what to expect with the actress. Her long and healthy dark brown locks have rarely ever changed, aside from a cute choppy lob every now and then. But she rarely switches up her color save for subtle highlights.
Unless you count those times on The Office.
From green bobs to honey brown locks, Kaling made quite a few transformations on the show. However, everyone lost it when the actress posted a photo to her page yesterday rocking a super-unexpected hair color: blonde.
She posted the photo to both Instagram and Twitter.
And while the photo made almost everyone who saw it become awestruck, it was the caption that immediately brought us back down to earth. "Haters will say it’s photoshop," she wrote, followed by #AprilFoolsDay. Yep, it was all a prank. However, that didn't stop fans from expressing how much they wished the look were real.
Most think Kaling would look amazing in any hair color.
The photo garnered support from everywhere, and many thought that the color may be worth keeping in real life. One fan said it really doesn't matter what hair color Kaling has. "It doesn't matter if your hair is blonde or black. You look amazing!"
Do blondes really have more fun?
According to one fan, they do. She urged Kaling to join other Indian women who wear blonde hair. Will she take their advice? "I think you should come over to the Blonde Indian side, it’s pretty fun here," the fan wrote.
Kaling accidentally inspired a few real transformations with her prank 'do.
"I've been wanting to go blonde for years but always feared looking like a pint of Guinness but you look amazing and you've inspired me to go for it," this user exclaimed.
However, others immediately figured out this look was all a lighthearted joke.
What can we say? Some have a better eye for Photoshop than others. And although some were quick to realize that the switch-up wasn't real, they were still sure to pay Kaling a compliment. "Lol April Fools! Although you would look hot as a blonde too," this user shared.
Kaling even disappointed her youngest fans.
"My niece got mad at me when I told her mindy’s blonde hair was for april fools, like I’m sorry it’s not my fault," read one response. We must admit that we're sharing the same sentiments as the niece. Kaling looks fantastic with this fake blonde hair.
And of course, there were plenty of references to The Office.
"Like I know Danny would hate the idea of Mindy going blonde but I really think he would change his tune if she just walked in like this one day?" writes one fan who is definitely correct. The thought of Danny seeing Kelly with blonde hair is an episode we definitely think should happen ASAP.
So, is Kaling ever going to go blonde for real?
For now, we think she's going to keep it brown like she always does. But hey, maybe this positive reaction to blonde hair will encourage her to switch it up a bit. If not blonde, we think that some honey blonde highlights would look fantastic. Mindy, we hope you're reading this.
