Social Media Users Drag Stay-at-Home Mom Who Humble Bragged About Her ‘Massive’ Ring

We've all probably gone gaga looking at the diamond engagement rings of celebrities, right? The baubles on their left hand can cost more than most of our homes. although they're absolutely gorgeous, gigantic and expensive diamonds just aren't usually in the cards for an average person. That's totally fine. Loads of women adore the ring on their fingers for what it symbolizes and not how much it costs.

But that's not to say that some women don't hope for an upgrade someday, and plenty of people do it. TikTok user Melissa, who posts as @melissatrendssahm, claims her husband felt bad about the diamond he originally proposed with and wanted to give her a new piece of bling.

This time, he chose a moissanite stone, and Melissa is afraid she'll be robbed for wearing such a flashy piece of jewelry. Not all TikTokers agreed, though, and they came in fast and loud in the comment section.

Melissa's new ring has a pretty big stone.

Text on her viral video claims her husband wanted to upgrade the diamond he proposed with and bought her moissanite ring from Etsy "not realizing how massive it is." Melissa says she has to twirl the diamond to the inside of her hand when she's in public so no one thinks she is wearing a $20,000 engagement ring.

At the end of the video, she spins her diamond around and reveals a princess-cut stone on a diamond band. Her video has been viewed 2.8 million times.

The mom thinks she's going to get robbed.

The caption on her video reads, "How do I say 'it's not worth robbing me' without saying 'it's not worth robbing me'?" But TikTok users had mixed feelings about her ring.

Some people love moissanite and prefer it to a diamond.

Like this person who wrote, "these comments are hilarious since most of my moissanite jewelry has been mistaken as diamond by strangers a lot of people can't tell the difference."

And this one: "mines a moissanite and the only person who has ever realized it wasn't a diamond was a literal jeweler. if you're salty about your overpriced blood diamond just say that folks."

But others weren't convinced.

Some TikTokers were pretty brutal with their criticism of Melissa's ring.

This one had harsh words: "I promise no one would mistake that for an actually valuable ring ."

"Those rings always look like cheap costume jewelry," someone else wrote.

"Don’t worry it looks like glass," another comment reads.

"I thought it was from a toy crank machine," another person teased.

"Looks nothing like my 20K ring i’m going to be completely honest… i love that you love it tho!" one commenter wrote.

Melissa made a series of TikToks about her rings.

In a video titled "Ring Gate," she explained she had no idea her original video would be so divisive and posted images of her new and original engagement rings.

Reactions continued to be mixed. Some prefer the original engagement ring. "I like your diamond ring more. The other looks too cloudy," one person wrote.

But another on team Moissanite chose the bigger stone. "Love moissanite and lab stones. You can polish the cloudiness off of the top easy. Your ring is beautiful," the person wrote.
