Obviously the coronavirus has sort of taken the wind out of our sails this Halloween. Usually, Iâd be picking out a costume, double-checking that I had a fully stocked supply of candy, and Iâd be counting down the days with a marathon of spooky movies. But this year, itâs a lot different, and I know Iâm not the only one who feels this way. This is probably why people are going crazy over these ahem very NSFW Halloween â or should I say Halloweenie â nail art on Instagram. Let me tell you â theyâre a real upper.
The nails in question were done by sisters Donne and Virginia Geer, who go by heynicenails on Instagram.
The sisters share many of the creations they do in their Long Beach, California, storefront, also called Hey Nice Nails, but at first glance you might not notice anything strange about the very special paint job they shared on Sunday.
At first, it looks like a typical Halloween manicure.
Mummies, Frankensteinâs monster, ghosts, a vampire. It looks like a standard spooky scenario.
But then as you get closer you realize ⌠penises. Those are penises.
Halloween penises, to be more accurate.
âIt was a graveyard smash for Heather [eggplant emoji, ghost emoji]â the caption to the photo stated.
I donât know who Heather is, but I applaud the spirit of these âHalloweiners.â
Of course, the internet went absolutely nuts (pun intended) over these nails.
âHappy Halloweenis [crying emoji],â one commenter wrote.
"OMG who cums up with this s–t?" another commenter wondered.
"I was scrolling and had to double take to make sure my eyes were seeing right [laughing crying emoji]. Bloody LOVE them," a third person chimed in.
But a few people werenât feeling the Halloweenis vibes.
"So offensive!!" one person commented. "Unfollowing."
Someone else simply wrote "Nope."
This isnât the first time that the Geer sisters have done nails inspired by a manâs you-know-what.
In September they did a set of nails inspired by the ongoing pandemic.
âDonât forget your PPE [eggplant emoji],â they captioned a photo of a set of nails they did that was penises wearing PPE masks.
I mean, at least itâs a reminder to follow health guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention?
And in April, Heather struck again, being featured in a 10-slide compilation of past willy-related manicures.
Obviously, these arenât for everyone, but with more than 5,000 likes on Instagram, itâs kind of easy to see why people were obsessed with these nails.
Perhaps one Instagram commenter put it best: âOMG yes. Best Halloween Nails 2020.â
