And the best catwalk in the history of catwalks EVER goes to Leon Dame from the Maison Margiela show. Fashion Weeks always end up producing some of the best viral content, but this one takes the cake.
Paris Fashion Week has already offered some exciting events, whether it be Cardi B's questionable outfit choice or Gigi Hadid saving the Chanel show. Now another moment has taken the internet by storm: Model Leon Dame's intense walk at the Maison Margiela show was a meme maker's dream. While the avant-garde looks and artistic choices don't always resonate with the internet audience, sometimes they resonate in an unintended way. Gold!
Leon Dame shared his closing walk at the Maison Margiela show to his Instagram.
The out-there walk impressed many fashion industry buffs, in particular Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour, who was left smiling during his display. The normally stony-faced industry leader looked impressed by the model's intense expression and slanted stomps.
The 20-year-old model was first scouted at a bus station in his hometown of Berlin. That was five years ago, and he has since spent his time modeling and studying theater, according to Vogue.
The memes began flowing in, and they all were so on point.
Everyone can relate to that Friday afternoon, leaving the office feeling. "Walking towards the weekend like Leon Dame at Margiela's this morning," one person wrote on Twitter. The intense glare and stomping gait are an accurate representation of those traditional 9-to-5 workers.
One person focused more on the steely expression on his face.
One parent could relate to the angry pout Dame possessed. "My son headed to his room after being ground from video games & then coming back out for water just so he can shoot me dirty glances," they wrote.
Dame unabashedly glared at the fashion editors and industry heads that attended the show, leaving them feeling positively frightened. It's Zoolander's Blue Steel IRL, and we're so here for it.
His walk has been compared to a baby giraffe's gait, or a stumbling, drunken late-night walk home.
Models are known for their effervescent grace and poise, so this brash and unconventional saunter took people back. However, some everyday people found it all too relatable. "I gotta become a runway model [if] this is how I walk 24/7," one person shared on Twitter.
Mostly, people felt it summed up how they feel about just getting through the week.
"Leon Dame's walk at Maison Margiela offers all the inspiration you need to stomp through hump day," fashion magazine i-D wrote to Twitter. Another person was reminded of an unpleasant awakening, writing, "My upstairs neighbor every morning at 7:30."
Either way, there were plenty of comparisons to make from this winning runway walk, but Dame caught the eye of some important people in fashion. He got a smile from Anna Wintour and a follow on Instagram from Rihanna. What else could be better if you're a fashion model?
