With spooky season in full swing, we are bound to get treated to a few delightful tricks. We've seen everything from hysterical maternity shoots to hauntingly beautiful ones, but perhaps our new favorite is what photographer Megan Ashleih did with some killer lighting and a Halloween decoration.
The 3-year veteran boudoir photographer was inspired to get a little silly between takes of her real boudoir sessions, she tells CafeMom.
"There was really no planning behind this at all," she admits. "I hold boudoir marathons at different locations each month. Last month I was using a friend's gorgeous plant-filled home for a day of shoots, and I am extremely pregnant. So I had made sure to leave big chunks of time for cleanup, and in all honesty snacking in between shoots.
"When I showed up early that day before she left for work, she had showed me the skeleton she had just bought for decorating with, and joked that I should shoot "her.' After a few shoots, and a good chuck of snacking on the couch, I thought 'OK — I need to at least take a few good shots and send them to Tristie while she's at work.'"
Once she got started, the ideas just kept rolling.
"Once I got into posing 'her' I was just cracking myself up completely," she tells us. "All the snapping and cracking of the joints as I tried to come up with pose ideas for the most stiff client I've ever worked with, coming up with detail shots that would typically be very risqué shots with clients. I don't think I've ever laughed so hard by myself, and it went on through the rest of the day."
Her "risqué" poses are the ones that make for the best laughs.
Megan spared absolutely no detail. Her keen eye and playful spirit resulted in some of the funniest shots we've ever seen.
People were obsessed with the shoot. With more than 6K reactions and over 7K comments, the session sparked a lot of great commentary.
"She needs to lose some weight, that thigh bone looks a little plump," joked one Facebook user.
"I am so glad you were able to fit her into your schedule! She has been DYING to do these," wrote another person.
Of course, a few snuck in some cheeky comments as well.
"Why do I have a … boner?" was a popular remark from several male readers.
In all seriousness, boudoir photography is something Megan Ashleigh absolutely loves doing.
"I love the connections and friendships I create with clients. Getting to be there with them during their vulnerable moments, and breaking through finding self love and healing," she tells CafeMom.
"It's an amazing thing to watch and get to be a part of. There are few things as rewarding as having a client call/message saying 'I thought I wasn't going to be able to find any pictures I loved, and after seeing them I can't even narrow down to my favorites.'"
So whether you're alive and well, or deceased and sassy, there is no reason not to indulge in your sexy side.
