Everyone Showed Up for a Baby Shower & They Were in for the Biggest Surprise β€” It Was a Wedding!

While planning a wedding can be exciting, there are many ways in which it can be stressful at the same time. One couple found an adorable and unexpected way to minimize the stress. After learning that they were expecting their first child, Audrianna Som, 24, and Chanra Klung, 25, had an interesting idea: They could have a surprise wedding at their baby shower.

Speaking to People, they explained how they were able to pull it off without anyone finding out about the surprise.

Audrianna and Chanra have been together since 2016. In 2022, they got engaged, they told People. In January 2024, they found out they were expecting their first child.

“I briefly brought up the idea, ‘What if we had a surprise wedding at our baby shower?'” Audrianna told the publication. She wasn’t necessarily expecting Chanra to agree to the idea, but he loved it. Shortly after, they started coordinating the special celebration.

No one knew about the surprise wedding.

As they prepared for their baby shower, the couple successfully kept their surprise wedding a secret. Even when their loved ones arrived at the New Hampshire venue in July, they didn’t suspect that anything other than a baby shower was happening. After all, Audrianna and Chanra were both dressed in blue to celebrate their baby boy, per People,Β and they didn’t have chairs set up for the wedding ceremony because they didn’t want to ruin the surprise.

'This is also our wedding,' they announced at the baby shower.

People only learned that the couple would be tying the knot at their baby shower when Chanra announced, “This is also our wedding,” Audrianna explained to People.

“Everyone was shocked,” Audrianna wrote in a comment on TikTok. “Even my parents were like how did we not know …” Granted, the couple seemingly put a lot of effort into keeping the surprise wedding a secret.

Having a joint wedding ceremony and baby shower helped reduce stress.

By putting together a surprise wedding ceremony on the same day as their baby shower, the couple successfully mitigated the stress that often comes with planning. “Why go through the hassle of planning and stressing when everyone would be here to celebrate the life of my future baby?” Audrianna said to People.

Audrianna shared some snapshots on TikTok.

“We were originally just going to elope but what better way to have everyone be there without the stress of actually planning a wedding lol,” Audrianna wrote on TikTok. Clearly satisfied with how the celebration turned out, she added that it was the “best decision ever.”

Many TikTok users loved the idea. “Crying because this is so beautiful πŸ₯ΉπŸ©΅ 2 precious moments in one day 😭,” one person commented.

The ceremony was “beyond beautiful” and “so cute” β€” and likely a smart financial decision as well, some pointed out. “Saved a bunch of money πŸ‘πŸΌ,” one person commented on the post.
