Grab an old car seat and get to Target, because it's time for Target’s semiannual Car Seat Trade-In. You can spring-clean the house by getting rid of a car seat you aren't using anymore and get 20% off a new car seat, stroller, or baby gear at the same time.
The event starts this Saturday, April 3, and runs through April 17. And you can spend the 20% off coupon you get online or in stores through May 1.
Here is everything you need to know.
Check if your local store is participating.
You have to take your used car seat to your local Target. Most Targets participate in this recycling event, but not all. So the first thing you want to do is go to the Target website and search for your local Target to make sure you can bring your car seat there.
Just click this link and type in your zip code. The search will return the stores closest to you that are participating.
Where does that car seat go?
Don't worry that someone will end up buying your used car seat. That's not what happens to them. The car seats you give back get recycled by Target’s partner, Waste Management, and turned into new pallets, plastic buckets, and construction materials.
Upgrade to a booster seat.
This is a great chance to move your baby up to a booster seat if she is ready. And this comfy booster from Graco is a great way to go. It has a harness system and an adjustable back that grows with your child, and it converts to a seat-only booster when she is ready for that.
Get a jogging stroller.
As your adorable offspring grows, it gets harder and harder to push the stroller that worked when that baby's body was tiny. But that doesn't mean your child can keep up when you want to go for a long walk or even a jog. To push a larger child any distance, you need a beefier machine, like this Graco FastAction Jogger LX Stroller. The three-wheel system glides over the terrain and carries your tot's bigger body as far and as fast as you want to go.
Put everyone in this fun wagon and go where you want.
Pushing kids in a stroller means fighting with kids who don't want to be in a stroller. But everyone wants to ride in this wagon! There's a seat belt in there. You can put the baby's car seat in it. And it's fun and safe from rain. You can push it or pull it and go wherever you want, because everyone will be willing to ride.
