As a mom of two boys, Elias, age 10, and Jake, age 6, it seems like every weekend is spent shuffling between sports games, practices, meets, and more. And, of course, along with the seemingly endless hours spent at those events, comes the seemingly endless uniforms and gear, which, let's face it, can really put a dent in your wallet.
My boys are about three and a half years apart, and my 6-year-old is pretty used to inheriting his brother's clothes, so it makes sense that he would also wear his old baseball uniform. Passing clothes down has saved our family hundreds of dollars over the years, but certain items of clothing are harder to pass down than others. Case in point: white baseball pants.
Baseball gear can be quite expensive, especially if you have to buy it new every year for multiple children. Rather than shell out big bucks, it makes more sense to revitalize the clothes we already have. There's just one problem: the pants currently look like this:

As you can see, there are grass stains galore, and since we really wanted Jake to look fresh for his first year of Little League baseball, I turned to OxiClean™. These stains can be notoriously tricky to remove, so I knew I needed to pretreat for ensured success. I started by spraying the stains with OxiClean™ Laundry Stain Remover Spray. I followed the directions by rubbing it in and then letting it sit for 10 minutes.
I followed that up with OxiClean™ Versatile Stain Remover, which I love because it's a great alternative to chlorine bleach. I did a presoak in our bathroom sink, mixed some powder with water, per label instructions, and let the pants soak. I could already see the stains start to lift after the first hour, but just to be sure, I let them soak for two.

After the two hours were up, the pants went into the wash, and as you can see from this "after" picture, the results were pretty fantastic.
Jake looked great for his debut season, and my family was able to save some money. I've used OxiClean™ products on sheets and towels before, but this is the first time I used it to refresh a pre-used piece of clothing. Because the results were so great, I plan on using OxiClean™ products on other hand-me-downs to make them look fresh and like new.

It's also not lost on me that we are reducing the amount of clothes that wind up in the landfill by reusing clothes we already own. There are so many benefits to handing down clothes, and OxiClean™ makes it easier to feel good about it. Baseball pants are just the start!
