My 5-Year-Old Loves Using the Viral Peeps Egg Spinner for Decorating Eggs, & It’s Under $20 on Amazon

If you love the fun of decorating Easter eggs with your kids but hate the work (and the mess) that can be involved, you’ll want to check out the viral Peeps egg spinner decorator.

You may have seen the Peeps egg spinner on TikTok, but I am happy to report that, having used it in real life with my own kids, it really does work, and it’s a lot of fun for kids.

The way the spinner works is simple: After you hard-boil eggs, place one egg in the spinning mechanism, turn on the button to activate the spin, and place a marker anywhere on the egg you’d like. You can run the marker down the egg, keep the marker in one spot, or stop and start the spinner to create different designs.

You could also use the spinner with wooden or other “fake” eggs, as well as Eggmazing branded eggs. (You can’t use plastic eggs because the marker ink will wipe right off.)

There’s only one speed to the spin, so you can’t slow it down or speed it up, but we tested with my 11-month-old niece, and the spin mechanism is not powerful enough to cause any harm. (She definitely stuck her fingers in before we could stop, and even though we definitely don’t recommend letting little ones purposefully put their fingers in, it made me feel better to see that no harm was done!)

The Peeps egg spinner is normally around $25 on Amazon, but if you choose the yellow or green colors, you can nab it for less than $20 right now. And honestly, yellow Peeps are kind of a classic, so it just makes sense, right?

Fun for Little Ones

My 5-year-old and her toddler cousin had an absolute blast using the spinner and the included markers to easily decorate eggs, and my daughter is already begging me to let her use it again. The two of them had a ton of fun trying it out and creating, frankly, gorgeous eggs that I could never dream up on my own.

Just as we found, fellow Amazon shoppers raved about how easy the spinner is to use for little ones who might have trouble with the traditional method of dyeing and decorating eggs. (And let’s not even talk about the cleanup!)

“My 5-year-old grandson and I gave this a pre-Easter run,” explained one shopper. “Really fun, Allows you to make really pretty eggs without the hassle of using dye cups. Although you could use dyed eggs. The motor spins the eggs quickly, uses large eggs, has plenty of space for ex-large or jumbo, and the marker colors are vivid. Easy to use, will be making eggs and memories with my 2-year-old Grandson as well.”

The spinner is also really fun to use, so it puts a new spin (sorry, couldn’t help it!) on Easter egg decorating. Kids love buttons, so my daughter was very excited to hit that button to turn it on and watch the egg spin. I honestly didn’t expect much from the product, but I was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked and how pretty the egg designs could be.

The included markers are also very helpful. They’re bright and colorful, and because we used them with an 11-month-old, there were inevitably some smudges on her fingers and the countertop, but they wiped right off while staying perfectly on the egg.

Having personally used the egg spinner and seeing how much both my niece and toddler used it, I definitely think it’s worth the $20. If you have a lot of kids, you’ll get a ton of use out of it, and if you have young kids, it’s a great investment you can use year after year for mess-free and fun Easter egg decorating. You’ll need three AA batteries to run the machine, so don’t forget to pick up those too!
