A wife who attended a wedding with her husband got serious backlash from him after leaving the husband at the ER when he was in a drunken stupor. At least, that’s what she shared on Reddit before the thread was locked and moderators removed her portion of the post. Before the removals, we were able to see her story and her sides of things.
Her goal was to ask other users if she was in the wrong. According to the user, her husband got drunk at the wedding and fell down. He needed stitches, so she wanted to take him to the ER. She wrote that on the way to the hospital, he became belligerent. Later, she got serious flak from her husband’s family for choosing to leave him at the ER after she knew he would be OK. Naturally, the internet has thoughts on the story.

Her husband’s family might think she’s in the wrong, but strangers online don’t.
Even though the wife’s original explanation on the Reddit post is no longer there, other Reddit users’ comments are. Many of them applauded the woman for leaving the hospital in the wee hours of the morning after her husband had been apparently rude and belligerent to other people, including paramedics.
Her original post explained that her husband contacted his family after she left the ER and that they, in turn, turned against her and acted as though she was in the wrong. She said in the post that her husband had been combative and argumentative. As one user pointed out in the comments section of the Reddit post, getting drunk at weddings is not unheard of, but the husband’s behavior after having too many drinks was the real issue.
Redditors weighed in with their thoughts.
“Hopefully he learned his lesson, and won’t let this happen again,” one Reddit user commented on the thread. “You have every right to be angry. He was at the hospital, if anything bad happened they would have called you. That’s probably the safest place to have left him.”
Someone else pointed out that according to the wife’s post on Reddit, it was not a life-or-death situation. Her husband got drunk, hurt himself, and was in the right place to get patched up. Despite her in-laws coming for her head, according to literal strangers on the internet, she was not wrong in this situation.
ER nurses also sounded off in the comments to let the wife know that she was not in the wrong, at least where they are concerned.
“Former ER nurse here,” one user commented. “He sounds like a real peach when he’s drunk. You’re totally fine to dip out while he’s acting like that, not dying, and not being discharged. Sounds like he needs to sleep it off.”
Someone else wrote: “This happens more than you think. He isn’t the first and won’t be the last. It was 0200 and you needed your sleep and to take care of yourself, and the ER is terrible for that because [of] how overstimulated the area is. You left him in very capable hands and he’s alive. He’s an adult. He’ll be OK.”
