Woman Learns Her Husband Completely ‘Ghosted Her’ While She Was Out of the Country on a Girls’ Trip

A girls’ trip is such a sacred time. You can go, unplug from your other important roles, and just be present as a woman for a moment. Women who are married to decent partners believe they can lean on them to take this kind of time to unwind. I know for me, I can tell my husband I want to go anywhere with any of my closest friends and he’d smile and just ask “When?” I’d do (and have done) the same for him.

I trust that when I get back there will be no major disasters and all feelings will be intact. And if there are any negative feelings, they would be communicated in full before I left, so we were on the same page. That’s what a respectful, equal relationship looks like for my husband and I.

For ShayLee Rae, that wasn’t the case. We Got This Covered reported that she left on a girls’ trip likely thinking the same, but she came home to a completely blown-up life. She was getting ready to head back from Ireland and called her husband to make sure he could pick her up from the airport. That’s when he informed her he had to help his parents clean out their storage shed.

She thought it was odd, but when she arrived home, she learned he had cleaned out their lives together. She claims he took many of her personal belongings and her life savings, and left a letter proclaiming “love wasn’t enough,” requesting a divorce.

@shayleeraye Put a finger down if you came home from a trip… thinking someone would be excited to see you, but they ghosted you instead. Put a finger down if you replayed every moment in your head, trying to figure out what you did wrong… Put a finger down if you realized that silence is an answer. Put a finger down if you’re learning that your peace is more important than their presence. And put a finger down if you’re done chasing people who don’t show up for you. #putafingerdown #fyp #cheatinghusband #ghosted #husbandoftheyear ♬ original sound – ShayLee Raye

He added in the note that he had damaged her car and promised to pay for it. When she checked, he had cancelled the insurance claim and not paid for it. The repair costs were quoted around $1,300. She added that both he and his family weren’t responding to her.

TikTok users were aghast at her story and offered everything from condolences to advice.

“Girl WHAT?! Definitely get a lawyer. I’m so sorry,” wrote one follower.

“The family ghosting you. I would feel like I’m going insane,” another commenter empathized.

“Yeah, I don’t know why he thought that would work. You guys are married he can’t just take everything and be like too bad so sad,” someone else chimed in.

This all went down around October 15, 2025, and in the latest update, the soon-to-be-ex-wife shared that his mom accidentally included her on a group chat family update about their “court case” and teased releasing the info.

Go ahead, girl. Go viral and make some lemonade out of those lemons.
