Sometimes, being a troll and teasing your parents pays off. Other times, it creates an awkward moment that literally everyone will remember forever. And, as a result, it might cause a little distrust in future situations. When one woman on TikTok shared such a situation when she and her fiancé pulled a prank on both of their moms, trying to ptrick them into believing that her fiancé is being mean to her, it sort of backfires.
This is the kind of prank that we’ve seen on TikTok before. A man might call his mom to give him an alibi so he can cheat on his wife, only for his wife to be listening in to see her mother-in-law’s reaction. Or, as in this particular video, a husband may purposely mistreat his wife in front of relatives just to see their reactions. It sounds a lot less harsh than it is in practice. However, in this TikTok, things get a little awkward.

The rude fiancé prank almost backfires.
In the video, the TikTok user, whose name is Keely, pranks her mom and her fiancé’s mom into believing her fiancé won’t allow her to have more dessert. Both of the moms appear speechless at first, and, as one person commented below the video, it’s hard to tell which mom belongs to the woman and which mom is her fiancé’s.
They both look at each other, and eventually, Keely’s mom gets up to lecture her daughter’s fiancé. His mom says she does not “take credit” for him after his behavior.
It’s a bit of a mess, but both Keely and her fiancé keep up with the prank, seemingly to see how far they can take it to get more reactions out of their respective mothers.
“The way his mom got up,” one person commented on the TikTok. “Green flag for a mother-in-law.”
Someone else wrote, “I could tell your mom was in the black, she looked at the other one like ‘you better get your son.'”
Another commenter who couldn’t help but notice the moms’ expressions added, “his mother is so embarrassed and your mother is trying not to commit murder.”
In the video, Keely says she is going to have more dessert. On cue, her fiancé questions her. He takes it up a notch later when he mentions her weight. This, of course, gets a reaction out of both of their moms, and both women spring to attention to lecture him. One of them even says Keely can eat whatever she wants and takes his dessert plate out of his hands.
Toward the end of the video, Keely’s mom tells her fiancé’s stunned mom, “I don’t even know what to say.”
Keely’s fiancé’s mom tells him, “I’m not taking you right now. I’m not taking credit for this.”
When he pushes the joke further and says Keely is “gaining a bit of weight,” his mom quickly jumps up. Then, the video ends.
Sure, things get a little awkward. But, at the very least, the bride-to-be can feel comfortable knowing the kind of family she is marrying into.
