With billions of people in the world, we all have that one special person who means everything to us. For many, that’s a parent. Sadly, when we lose that parent, we feel like a piece of our heart and soul is missing. We often hear sweet stories about people seeing signs from heaven, which can help ease that grief. That could be a bright red cardinal outside your window. Or maybe a butterfly landing on your shoulder. Sometimes you hear a special song on the radio at just the right moment.
Those happenings can change your day or even your entire life. A TikToker took an unexpected journey down the highway and met a stranger who changed her life forever.
Shannon Queen, who posts as @shoshoshots, explained in her TikTok that June 2 was her late mother’s birthday. Since her mom’s death, she’s missed her terribly and wanted nothing more than to give her mom one last hug. Shannon knew that wasn’t possible, so she decided instead to do a good deed for someone else. She went into a Kroger store and bought some flowers, her mom’s favorite cupcakes, and a card.
She tells CafeMom her heart longs for her mom and the good she did in the world.
“When I need to feel a connection to my mom, I like to do things for her that she used to do. We found out after her death that she would do random acts of kindness. Some of the stories that were told about her were so beautiful,” Shannon says. “She never told us she did them, so that’s what I do to feel her.”
Shannon began writing to her mom and asking her for a sign. She said in the video she felt “selfish” even asking, but her heart ached. She thought that if her mom could just give her a bit of reassurance, she’d be OK. She wanted God to give her mom a day pass to “send me a hug somehow.”
“I wrote that all down and said, ‘You know I got your flowers, and I got your favorite cupcakes. I hope you like them.’” Shannon explained. “’But I can’t give them to you. So, if you could direct me to a woman who loved her children as fiercely as you did and direct me to a woman who needs to read that card.’”

She explained inside the card that she expressed her love and admiration for her mom. Shannon wanted to give the card to a woman who “needs to hear that.” She pleaded with her mom to send that person. Miraculously, she did.
Shannon shared tearfully that she was pulling out of the parking lot when she saw a woman who caught her eye. She stopped the woman, who was named Jackie, and asked her if she had kids. When she said yes, Shannon handed her the card and cupcakes and explained they were in honor of her mom’s birthday.
“I wanted to gift somebody a gift to make me feel better,” she told Jackie.
Shannon then reached into her car to get the flowers, and when she returned, she noticed Jackie had tears streaming down her face. Jackie told Shannon that she was grieving the loss of her son and her sister at the very moment Shannon approached.
“She was sitting there praying for the same thing I was,” Shannon said. “She reaches out and grabs ahold of me and gives me the biggest hug, the best hug. Everything that I wrote in that letter, she needed to hear from her son, I believe, saying she was a good mom. And I needed that hug.”
Shannon’s story touched thousands of people.
“Now that’s a story that screams [divine] intervention if ever there was one !! What a beautiful moment … Beautiful,” a TikToker wrote.
Many people believed Shannon and Jackie were meant to meet each other.
“This is beautiful. Your mom and her son orchestrated that meeting in heaven. I am in Central Arkansas so you are getting close to the people that need to see this,” another person commented.
Shannon tells CafeMom that she hopes if Jackie sees her video, she understands the profound impact she had on her.
“If I knew she was watching but I didn’t get to see her again, I would want her to know that meeting her even for just a minute was by far one of the most beautiful and impactful days of my life, and if she wanted to contact me and not be public I would honor that for her,” she says.
Shannon and Jackie parted ways without exchanging information. Shannon hoped the power of social media and a few guardian angels would help their paths cross again. Lucky for her, it appears they did.
Shannon posted a follow-up video June 6 with a screenshot to a Facebook post captioned, “Omg!!! Omg!!! Jackie!!! Jackie Jackie Jackie!!!! You all found her!!!”
Shannon, we are so happy for you and Jackie. Here’s to a lifelong friendship and the courage to always speak your truth.
