Welcome to the life of being a woman, where your pain is only "real" if it gets validated by a man. A reproductive health professor recently determined period pain to get as bad as the pain of heart attacks. This was shocking for some guys, but for women? We were more like, "Uh… yeah, we know."
A recent article shed light on just how painful menstrual cramps could be, even comparing them to heart attacks.

A professor of reproductive health at University College London, John Guillebaud, explained patients have described their cramping to be "as bad as having a heart attack."
Twitter immediately erupted with people sharing their own accounts of dealing with period cramps, which is often overlooked as a serious source of pain for women.
The "time of the month" can be brutal, to say the least.
To be fair, you'd only know if your period was *actually* as painful as a heart attack if you've had a heart attack in the past.
Still, it's all relative and a woman's pain should be addressed just as seriously as any other pain in the medical field.
For most women, the fact that period pain is a huge deal is hardly an earth-shattering revelation, but it's a good start toward normalizing periods as a medical condition that should be treated as such.
