WTF Is Going on With the ‘Romantic’ Skeleton Figurines at Michaels?

Here’s a sentence I never thought I’d write: We need to talk about the NSFW skeleton figurines that Michaels is selling for Halloween. Yes, Michaels the craft store.

Recently, TikTokers who visited Michaels in search of cute Halloween decor noticed something surprising. In addition to all the normal decorations you’d expect for Halloween — craft pumpkins, silicone candy molds, cute lawn signs, and spooky yard inflatables — there were also some skeleton figurines in … compromising positions.

There seem to be two categories of these NSFW skeletons: those on the porcelain throne and those engaged in spicy embraces. Now, I know what you’re probably thinking — How inappropriate can Halloween figurines be? Well, I guess you’ll just have to see for yourself.

'Lovers'

Let’s start with the most buzzed-about figurine … two skeletons engaging in a passionate display. The figurine, which is labeled as “tabletop decor,” normally costs $24.99, but it’s on sale for just $9.99 — I guess people weren’t chomping at the bit to put spicy skeletons on their dinner table.

“Hey Michaels, are you okay?” asked  one TikToker, whose video got over 1 million views.

Reactions to the TikTok video were mixed. Overall, people seemed to find humor in the skeletons.

“It’s Kourtney and Travis,” one commenter wrote.

Another said, “They would have nailed it if that discount was 69%.”

One viewer hit the nail on the head, writing, “Nothing could have prepared me for THAT.”

'Tombstone Couple'

Seemingly less inappropriate, but still strange, is this figurine featuring skeletons kissing on top of a tombstone that reads “Eternal Love.”

Another TikToker, @stitchedbyprecious, also noticed the figurines during a trip to Michaels. “Is anyone else slightly concerned with the Halloween decorations at Michaels this year?” she asked.

“I feel like the creative director just walked into the meeting and was like, ‘Kama Sutra skeletons and toilets, that’s the theme this year,’ and everyone was like, ‘yes queen, let’s do it.'”

In addition to the skeletons engaged in adult activities, there are also skeletons in another compromising position: on the toilet. This figurine, for example, shows a skeleton working on his laptop while doing his business.

The commenters on the video had a lot to say, as well.

“The bathrooms one would be funny in the bathroom, but what are you even supposed to do with the skeletons in the other positions,” someone asked.

Some people were charmed by the ridiculous skeletons. One woman wrote: “Hahahaha wow that’s insane. I need them all…”

Needless to say, these skeletons have sparked up quite a conversation among Halloween enthusiasts!
