13-Year-Old & 15-Year-Old Attacked an 80-Year-Old Man in a Park & Now They’re Going to Prison

Two teens in England have been found guilty of manslaughter after brutally attacking a man. The man, Bhim Kohli, died as a result of his injuries a day later. The teens attacked Kohli while he was in a park, walking his dog. It doesn’t appear that the teens knew the man prior to the attack.

Now, the family of the man is speaking out about the heinous attack. They aren’t mincing words when it comes to how they feel about the teens involved.

Eighty-year-old Bhim Kohli was walking his dog Rocky in Franklin Park in Leicester on September 1, 2024, a news release from Leicestershire Police noted. Three minutes later, a group of five teens, including the now 13-year-old girl and now 15-year-old boy, also entered the park.

Within the next 15 minutes, the boy approached Kohli. Allegedly “it was claimed he was told the elderly dog walker was the man who had previously hit another teenager with a stick,” according to the release, but this was never proven to be true. The boy began yelling at the older man, and the group ran. Only the girl remained.

The girl filmed parts of the attack on her phone, including when the boy beat Kohli with his shoe. Another clip showed the older man lying in the grass. The teens left him on the ground before running out of the park.

A short time later, Kohli was found on the ground by his grandson. He was quickly joined by Kohli’s daughter and other family members. They called emergency services, which included police and paramedics. Kohli told them he was attacked by the boy, per the police release. He also said they made a racist remark to him.

Kohli received fractures to three of his ribs as well as a spinal cord trauma. He died the next day from a neck injury caused by the trauma.

On April 8, 2025, the two teens were found guilty of manslaughter at Leicester Crown Court. The trial lasted six weeks. “A 15-year-old boy was convicted for attacking and injuring Mr. Kohli. He was found not guilty of murder,” the police release shared. “A 13-year-old girl was convicted after she was found to have encouraged the incident by pointing out the victim, filming it on her mobile phone and laughing.” Because of their ages, their names have not been released.

“We feel anger and disgust towards the teenagers who took dad away from us. They humiliated an 80-year-old man, assaulted him, filmed it and laughed at him,” Kohli’s daughter, Susah Kohli, said in a statement shared by the BBC. She also called the teens’ behavior “utterly disgusting.”

“The area we have loved for so many years and called home feels so different now and we will never feel safe,” she added. “Every time my mum opens the front door she thinks about what happened to her husband.”

The teens are due to be sentenced in May.
