A 10-year-old boy in Louisiana is speaking out after being kidnapped. Although his identity has not been revealed, the boy and his family are speaking about the traumatic experience. The boy was walking home after getting off the school bus, and he suddenly found himself being kidnapped. During his brief disappearance, he convinced another boy who had also been kidnapped to be brave. It’s that bravery that allowed him to escape.
The 10-year-old boy was taken as he walked home from the school bus stop on September 18, 2025, with his 6-year-old brother, their mom told WVUE. He reportedly told police that two men with ski masks grabbed him at gunpoint.
“My 10-year-old said they were holding hands, but you know when you’re running, eventually, your hands let go,” the mom said.
She claimed that her 6-year-old son escaped the kidnappers when they pushed him down.
“My six-year-old runs inside screaming and hollering hysterically saying they took my brother,” she told WVUE. “They took my brother.”
The older boy was allegedly taken by the men to an abandoned home only a block away from his own home. When he arrived, he was shocked to see another boy he didn’t know. Both boys were commanded to strip down to their underwear.
“They were going to try to take a photo of me, like I don’t know, but when they tried to do that, that was when one of them left,” he said, per KVUE. “The other one said ‘I’ll be right back.’”
That’s when he began plotting his great escape. “They locked the door, so they made sure the door was locked, and that was when we tried to kick the door, and I kicked the door, and that’s when I had kicked the door down, and I had ran,” the 10-year-old said. The other child also escaped. That child has not been identified either.
He kept running toward his home and was shocked to find his father out looking for him. The moment was captured on video and shared by WVUE.
“I just thank God for the strength I have for raising my child to be the strong person he was in that moment,” the boy’s mom said.
After the boy who was kidnapped returned home, the family found his clothes and backpack across the street from their home.
The news outlet contacted the owner of the property where the boy was taken, who confirmed it was uninhabited. New Orleans Police Department Sgt. Barry Fletcher told People they are investigating the incident as an aggravated kidnapping. No arrests have been made thus far.
