11-Year-Old Boy Shoots & Kills Mom’s Boyfriend, Defending Her After Fight Over Visiting Newborn Baby

An 11-year-old boy shot his mother’s boyfriend after the couple got involved in an altercation. The tween heard his mother fighting with her boyfriend, Jaimeer Jones-Walker, when things allegedly got physical. That’s when he took matters into his own hands and fired a single shot that proved to be fatal. Details about the couple’s relationship have not been shared, but they recently had a child together, which was the cause of the argument. According to neighbors who knew them, fighting wasn’t an abnormal occurrence. Still, it’s unknown if the boy acted because he was tired of seeing his mother hurt by her boyfriend or for another reason.

Officers were called to the South Philadelphia home around 11:40 p.m. on March 5, 2026, WPVI reported. The shooting was the result of an argument between the boy’s mother and her boyfriend, who was identified as 30-year-old Jones-Walker.

The couple was arguing about visiting their newborn, who was in the hospital. According to a report from NBC Philadelphia, Jones-Walker didn’t live in the same home. He double-parked his car outside the woman’s home before going inside.

“It was verbal and possibly turned into a physical altercation,” Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small told NBC Philadelphia.

During the altercation, which took place in a second floor bedroom, the 11-year-old boy got involved by shooting Jones-Walker, WPVI reported. When police arrived, the man was unresponsive.

“He was suffering from a gunshot wound to his face,” Small told WPVI. Jones-Walker was declared dead at the scene. “Also on the second floor in another room, we did find a semiautomatic handgun. We believe that was the weapon that was used to fire the shot,” Small said.

Both the boy and his mother remained at the home before being taken to Philadelphia police headquarters to be interviewed by homicide detectives. They’re cooperating with the investigation, police say.

According to police, the gun found was registered to the boy’s mother, per WPVI. Investigators are also looking into the double-parked Tesla that police say was driven by Jones-Walker.

Neighbor Shyreea Blocker told NBC Philadelphia that she heard the argument before the shooting. But Blocker said arguing wasn’t out of the norm for the couple. “Like arguing and fighting but that’s nothing new with them,” she said. “It’s a shame. It shouldn’t be like that.”

Gilbert Blocker, another neighborhood resident, expressed concern for the 11-year-old boy. “The things he’s going to suffer in his heart if he has any feelings, is going to last him not just now but for the rest of his life,” he shared.

Sources told NBC Philadelphia that the boy is staying with another relative.

The shooting incident is still an active investigation. Thus far, no arrests have been made or charges filed.
