Casey Anthony’s Dad Takes Lie Detector Test in New Docuseries & Breaks Down in Tears

It has been nearly 16 years since 2-year-old Caylee Marie Anthony went missing. In the months following her disappearance, speculation arose about what happened to the toddler and who may have known where she was. A months-long search for the missing toddler began and ultimately ended in the tragic discovery of her remains in December 2008.

Caylee's mother, then 22-year-old Casey Anthony, was ultimately arrested in connection with her daughter's death but claimed she had nothing to do with it. After the arrest and subsequent trial, the mother tried to pin the crime on her father, George Anthony, 72, whom she and her daughter lived with at the time of her disappearance. George Anthony vehemently denied having anything to do with his granddaughter's death, and in the New A&E documentary Casey Anthony's Parents: The Lie Detector Test he intends to prove he's innocent.

Caylee Anthony's death shocked the country.

All eyes were on the toddler's family after her grandmother, Cindy Anthony, reported her missing in 2008. When her body was found several months later, many pointed fingers at her mother. Casey Anthony went on trial in 2011, and the world watched a woman dubbed "America's most hated mom," sometimes cry and other times smile on the stand, as the prosecution attempted to get a murder conviction punishable by the death penalty.

While on trial, the young mother claimed her father sexually abused her as a child.

During her testimony, Casey Anthony claimed that George Anthony sexually abused her, and that she believed he had molested Caylee as well. George Anthony denied hurting his daughter or his granddaughter and claimed he had nothing to do with Caylee's disappearance or death.

In a verdict that shocked many, Casey Anthony was found not guilty of killing her daughter.

After deliberating for only 11 hours in July 2011, the jury ultimately decided Casey Anthony was not guilty of murder or manslaughter, but was found guilty of four misdemeanor counts of providing false information to police. She served just a few weeks of a four-year sentence.

In a 2022 documentary series, she said again that her father was responsible for Caylee's death.

In a docuseries of her own for made for the Peacock streaming service titled, Casey Anthony: Where the Truth Lies, Casey Anthony made more sexual abuse allegations and claimed that her father was involved with concealing his granddaughter's body.

George Anthony and his wife Cindy Anthony, 65, say they're now taking the lie detector test to prove once and for all their daughter's allegations are untrue.
