During the course of the argument, the infant was removed from the car they were in. And after that, the man ran allegedly over the child.
The Florida man didn’t get far before he was taken into police custody. He was immediately arrested, but formal charges have not yet been brought against him.

Justin Golden, 20, from Jacksonville was “driving with a female passenger and the 8-month-old baby in the car when he and the passenger got into an argument,” according to a statement the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office shared on Facebook.
Police responded to a call of “a crash involving a single vehicle and a child,” the JSO said in a statement that People published.
“Upon arrival, they located what appeared to be an infant in the roadway, and witnesses advising the child was struck by a vehicle that had left the scene. Members of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department arrived and transported the child to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased,” the statement continued.
According to investigators, during Golden’s argument with the woman, he removed the child from the car, Fox 35 Orlando reported. As he was leaving, he drove off, striking the infant and killing it.

Police claim that the man “was quickly taken into custody,” and is now facing charges of “aggravated manslaughter and vehicular homicide for taking this young life.”
“Golden is locked up in the Duval County jail for his actions. The investigation continues. We, with our partners at the State Attorney’s Office, will stop at nothing to get justice for the baby,” per the Facebook statement. It is unclear whether the death was intentional or accidental.

In a comment to People, the JSO was unable to confirm “the relationship between the three in the vehicle.” However, local outlet WJXT reported that JSO indicated that it’s believed the Florida man and the woman were the parents of the child.
Local business owner Markin Barnes spoke with WJXT because he watched the incident. “It’s rough you know, dealing with kids and young, it’s definitely going to be a traumatic situation,” he said.
“This is a tragic and senseless loss of life,” the JSO said in a statement. Currently, Golden is expected in court on February 18, 2025.
