Florida Mom Charged With Drowning Daughter, 14, After Withholding Diabetes Medication

Parents are supposed to be the ones protecting their children at all costs. Horrifyingly, kids die at the hands of the caregivers who should love them the most. A Florida mom is one case in point. She was recently charged with drowning her 14-year-old daughter after withholding her diabetes medication.

Kelsey Michelle Glover of Kissimmee, Florida, was arrested and charged in the wake of the teenager’s death. In addition to allegedly killing her daughter, Giselle Glover, the mom reportedly attacked her roommate, who called 911. Now, Kelsey Glover faces a murder charge.

Kissimmee police responded to a violent incident last month.

Officers responded to an “armed disturbance” at a home in Kissimmee on November 20. There, they found Giselle Glover unresponsive, the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office noted in a news release shared via Facebook. The 14-year-old was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

Kelsey Glover also allegedly attacked her roommate with knives and a hammer.

Before police arrived, a 911 caller (Kelsey Glover’s roommate) alleged that the mother had killed her daughter by drowning. The news release also noted that Kelsey Glover “had attacked the 911 caller with knives and a hammer.” She did so when the roommate attempted to intervene.

The Florida mom was arrested and charged with drowning her daughter.

Initially, Kelsey Glover was arrested November 20 on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to the sheriff’s department’s news release. A medical examiner determined Giselle Glover’s cause of death as drowning, declaring her death a homicide. The Osceola Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit then obtained an arrest warrant for Kelsey Glover for first-degree murder. An investigation is ongoing.

Kelsey Glover allegedly withheld her daughter's diabetes medication.

The incident reportedly stemmed from Kelsey Glover withholding her diabetic daughter’s insulin, WFTV reported. This led to an argument between her and the roommate. Eventually, the teen became “increasingly ill – vomiting, weak, and unable to eat,” per Fox 35 Orlando.

She allegedly trapped Giselle Glover in a bedroom.

Allegedly, Kelsey Glover trapped her daughter in a bedroom and played loud music so her cries for help couldn’t be heard, Fox 35 Orlando reported. On the day of the 911 call, the Florida mom allegedly “put her daughter in the bathtub and grabbed her by the hair and held her head underwater,” per WESH. When the roommate attempted to resuscitate the teen, Kelsey Glover attacked her.

A GoFundMe campaign was organized to help pay for Giselle’s final expenses. It’s raised more than its $15,000 goal.
