Kids Ages 9 & 10 Charged With Assault & Kidnapping After 5-Year-Old Was Found Brutalized

Two elementary school aged children in Ohio are facing serious charges after a young girl was brutally attacked. The girl’s mom, Antavia Kennibrew, went on social media to share her daughter A’Marie’s story after she was allegedly lured away from a family member’s home and horrifically beaten and sexually assaulted. Although the police were alerted to the attack when it happened, Kennibrew claimed the children weren’t being held accountable because of their age. Now, it seems that authorities are taking action.

On October 15, 2025, the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office shared a news release about the case. It noted that a 10-year-old girl and 9-year-old boy have initially been charged after a 5-year-old was attacked, based on the evidence officials have reviewed so far.

The children have been charged with attempted murder, four counts of rape, two counts of felonious assault, one count of kidnapping, and another count of strangulation. “Given the sensitive nature of this case, we decline to release any additional details and decline to comment further,” the office announced.

The announcement comes weeks after Kennibrew’s viral Facebook post on October 6. In the post, she shared that 5-year-old A’Marie was with a family member while she underwent a medical procedure. After the family member alerted Kennibrew to her daughter’s disappearance, the mom rushed to their home. “As I got there I ran to the EMS truck where I found my daughter unresponsive,” she wrote.

The post provided a painstakingly detailed account of the alleged physical and sexual assault her daughter was subjected to at the hands of other young children. “I couldn’t believe what I saw in front of me,” the terrified mom wrote. “My daughter did not look like herself.” Kennibrew explained that the kids, who were only a couple years older than her daughter, lured her into an open field.

Little A’Marie was beaten bloody, allegedly raped by the children, and then left for dead in the field. According to Kennibrew, the children lied to her family member, saying they didn’t know where the little girl was. It wasn’t until some time later that they came back to tell the truth with an adult in tow.

Kennibrew claimed she wasn’t planning to go public after the girl was attacked, but she felt the police were “failing” her daughter.

An initial statement from the Cleveland Police Department was shared on October 7. “The Division’s Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Unit is actively investigating a matter involving multiple children under the age of 10, both as victims and as suspects,” it read. “Due to the sensitive nature of this case, releasing additional information at this time could jeopardize the integrity of the investigation and compromise the privacy and constitutional rights of those involved.”

“My daughter is not the same,” the mom shared. “She is having behavioral problems. She is mentally not OK. I am mentally not OK. Me not getting justice for my daughter makes me feel like I failed her.”

She told WOIO, however, that the girl is now in therapy. “I want her to be somewhat of a normal five-year-old again,” the mom said. A GoFundMe account has been set up to help the family with costs related to the attack.
