4-Year-Old Girl Survives Fall From 10-Story Chicago Apartment Building Window

Young kids are quick, and if you’re not watching them closely, there’s no saying what they may get into. Sometimes, it’s relatively harmless, but other times, kids put themselves in real dangerous situations. Recently, a 4-year-old girl fell from a window in Chicago. Although she survived, there are a lot of questions about how it could have happened.

Police are still investigating what led to the girl’s fall. Evidently, it may have been intentional. Police haven’t given any indication they are treating it as a crime, but in the meantime, the incident should be an important reminder about kids and windows. Even windows with guards or safety bars can be a hazard for small children.

On March 11, 2025, the 4-year-girl fell from a 10th floor window at Spring Grove Apartments, police confirmed to People. The incident occurred shortly before 11 a.m. in the 13-story building.

According to police, the girl, who has not been identified, suffered a head injury. She was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in fair condition. No additional information about her condition has been released.

Police on the scene after the incident said an investigation is ongoing, WGN reported. The fall is also being investigated by the Department of Child and Family Services.

Kayla, a neighbor who lives in the building, spoke with the news outlet. She lives on the eighth floor, and even though she claims the windows are hard to open, she understands how a child could fall out of them.

“I make sure they don’t go towards the window because it’s scary living in a high-rise building and you got kids and they like to be curious and it’s kind of scary,” she told WGN.

Currently, police are unsure of what events led to the girl falling out of the window.
