A mom in Texas has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. Ivana Dolores Salazar was exhibiting strange behavior when police pulled her over. She claimed that she was on her way to pick up her infant from day care. But there was something important that she failed to realize.
Now, she is facing multiple charges as a result of her actions, and there’s no word yet on whether or not she will maintain custody of her child.
El Paso police pulled Salazar over around 1:28 a.m. for failing to signal a lane change, KFOX14 reported. At the time, she told the officers she had just gotten off work and was going to pick up her 5-month-old baby.
While speaking with the woman, police noticed a clear glass cup with an unknown red liquid inside. This led them to believe that Salazar may have been driving drunk, according to officials.

At the time, Salazar told officers that she was alone in the car.
However, when police searched the car, they found her infant in the backseat. The infant’s car seat was also allegedly not secured properly. Salazar repeated that she was on her way to pick up the child when questioned again.
According to KTSM, deputies then escorted Salazar to the back of the car, showing her the child. It was at that moment that Salazar became uncooperative. She then claimed she didn’t know the child was in the car.
El Paso Fire Medical Services arrived on the scene to assess the baby’s medical condition. The baby was transported to The Hospitals of Providence East Campus for an evaluation. Child Protective Services was called and released the child to a responsible party, the El Paso Times reported.
Ivana Dolores Salazar was arrested and charged with one count each of driving while intoxicated with a passenger under 15 years of age and endangering a child. She was booked into the El Paso County Jail on a $23,000 bond and later released on personal recognizance.
