Middle school students don’t always make the smartest decisions. They’re at an age where they’re flexing newfound independence, and sometimes that leads to them not using their best judgment, which can have dangerous repercussions.
One mom in Texas is claiming that her middle schooler and some of his classmates gave themselves tattoos during class. Not only that, the kids were using the same needle over and over, which is a major health hazard. The teacher evidently didn’t notice what was going on.

Mom Ashley Armstrong spoke with Fox 4 News about the incident, which took place at Travis Intermediate School in North Texas. Her 11-year-old son Jordan was one of the students who gave themselves tattoos during class. The news outlet has video of the boy, whose arms shows scabs reading “I heart my lord” and “JC.”
“He got punishment for it,” Armstrong shared, adding, “He knows better. He shouldn’t have done it in the first place.”
But Armstrong still doesn’t understand how her son had the opportunity to do such a thing in the first place. “How is it that these kids are getting tattoos in class and not one teacher noticed it?” she asked.
The mom received a phone call from the Travis Intermediate school nurse on February 25, 2025. She was told to get lab work done for her son immediately. It turns out the kids were sharing the tattoo needle.
“The needle was shared several times. From one class to another class to another class,” Armstrong explained. “It’s with a needle. I don’t care if it’s temporary or not.” So far, tests have come back negative for diseases, but Jordan will have to go back to the doctor to make sure.
According to Armstrong, she has heard from the parents of approximately a dozen kids, claiming they were also tattooed. “This could affect him. Seriously affect him,” the mom said. “I am not letting up on none of that.”

The Greenville ISD released a statement about the incident, per Fox 4 News. “Teachers assigned to the classrooms where the incident allegedly occurred have been suspended pending the outcome of an investigation,” the statement reads. They added that they were working with local law enforcement to identify the middle school students involved.
Currently, the Greenville ISD isn’t releasing information how many students were involved, nor how many teachers. The district didn’t share if the teachers knew what the students were doing.
